Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Works closely with subject matter experts, principal investigators, researchers, and functional support teams to create compliant and well-developed proposals for submission to government customers.
- Reads through federal government solicitations to develop a proposal template that is responsive to the opportunity.
- Develops timeline and schedule for proposal submission to ensure deadlines are met.
- Prepares and organizes a collaborative working folder to handle version control during the proposal process.
- Incorporates graphics into government-provided and self-created proposal templates.
- Copyedits and processes revisions to written materials written by researchers, such as Statement of Work and other technical documents.
- Adheres to and updates in-house style guide.
- Leads calls to review the prepared documents, answer questions from researchers, process revisions etc.
- Collects user data to determine areas of documentation that need revision and updating.
Required Qualifications
- BA in English, writing, or communications.
- Ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous deadlines.
- 3-5 years of technical editing experience.
- Teaching, grant writing, or scientific publishing experience a plus.
- Portfolio of technical writing samples for review.
- Ability to edit and assist Principal Investigators in creating engaging proposals about highly technical subjects.
- Proven experience leading research or technical teams in developing government or commercial proposals.
- Familiarity with government proposal guidelines including the Department of Energy and Department of Defense.
- Facility with documentation publishing software, such as Microsoft Work, Adobe Acrobat, Nitro PDF, Framemaker, etc.
- Knowledge of copy editing and grammar rules
- Demonstrated ability to meet timelines and ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. US citizenship is required for this role due to Federal Contract Provisions.

The salary range for this position is $107,100 - $150,000 USD, annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. This position will remain posted until at least February 8th, 2025.
