The Sustainable Material Program Coordinator will support the ongoing pursuit to identify, select and assess sustainable materials and chemicals within the organisation, from our products to our facilities and processes.

This role involves developing and executing a comprehensive strategy that ensures compliance with environmental regulations and aligns with the organization's sustainability goals.

The ideal candidate will possess an excellent background in environmental science, project management, engineering and regulatory compliance, coupled with excellent leadership and communication skills.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop a detailed roadmap for phasing out PFAS, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate PFAS phase-out strategies into broader environmental and sustainability initiatives.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all phase-out activities comply with local, national, and international regulations concerning PFAS.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and facilitate audits or inspections as required.

Project Management:

  • Lead project teams to implement PFAS reduction initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Utilize project management tools to track progress, manage risks, and report on outcomes to stakeholders.

Research and Development:

  • Identify and evaluate alternatives to PFAS-containing materials and processes.
  • Collaborate with research teams to test and validate substitute materials and technologies.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work with internal stakeholders, including procurement, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure alignment and support for PFAS phase-out initiatives.
  • Communicate progress and challenges to senior leadership and other relevant parties.

Training & Education:

  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees about PFAS and the importance of the phase-out initiative.
  • Promote a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility across the organization.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor industry trends and advancements in PFAS alternatives to enhance phase-out strategies.
  • Implement feedback mechanisms to refine and optimise phase-out processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated years of experience in environmental management, sustainability, or a related area, with a focus on hazardous substance management.
  • Proven track record in leading complex projects and cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of PFAS-related regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
