As the Supplier Quality Manager, you will be responsible for leading a global based Supplier Management team within a Business Line, including both supplier capability and quality responsibilities across supplier development, and monitoring activities.

You will be responsible for driving standardisation of work within Supplier Quality Community.

This position works closely with Sourcing, Supplier Performance, Procurement, Project Quality (Assurance and Control) and Engineering to deliver quality products to our customers with a total cost mindset.

The position holder does not have direct reports and will have a functional lead with GSI Regions and Factories.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develops both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development, including equipment qualifications, action plans, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence. SQEs have various levels of differentiation which are related to level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage vendors.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired expertise to execute functional policy / strategy.
  • Utilises technical expertise and judgement to solve problems. Leverages technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • Lead the development & execution of short and mid-term Supplier Management strategies and performance that support a competitive advantage in partnership with Sourcing, Operations, Quality and Engineering.
  • Responsible for execution of QMS and Compliance requirements associated with Supplier Quality Management. This includes supplier QMS, Process, Capability and development plans. It also includes definition and action planning from Key Performance Indicators.
  • Responsible for push supplier improvements within RCA (Root Cause Analysis), drive process or product/parts qualification, manage the SDR (Supplier Deviation Request) Process, registering, monitoring and manage the CoPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) Recovery
  • Support improvement in Supplier Management processes through digitization and simplification including management / employee communication, policy recommendations and bowler dashboards.
  • Responsible for key Supplier Management metrics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Proven experience in Supplier Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering or Quality Management.
  • Ability to communicate (speak and write) in English. German and/or French is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership skills demonstrating cross-functional teamwork and understand factors impacting the businesses and our suppliers.
  • Influence / communication - establishes good relationships; drives continuous improvement across functional & global boundaries.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of time.
  • Ability to apply structured problem-solving methodologies such as 5Why, 8D, A3, PSR to identify root causes and implement corrective actions, with a focus on supplier quality.
  • Applies continuous improvement methodologies such as PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act), LEAN, Six Sigma, DMAIC, Kaizen, 5S, Hoshin Kanri, and others to drive process efficiency and eliminate waste.
  • Understanding and managing Critical to Quality (CTQ) characteristics for both product and process in the supplier quality context.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate control plans to ensure supplier processes remain in control and deliver consistent quality.
  • Ability to lead PPAP programs, define deliverables in collaboration with R&D/engineering, manage cross-functional stakeholders (R&D, sourcing, procurement, industrialization when necessary), and adapt the PPAP timeline to project / production needs.
  • Ability to conduct process audits based on internal material and product specifications (SMS/NT/TS) to ensure compliance with organisational standards and requirements.
  • Ability to monitor supplier performance, KPI targets, and Supplier Performance Scorecard. Will be a key user for the existing tool, delivering training, explain dashboards and graphs to suppliers, and identifies the best and weakest suppliers for their area (Plant, Commodity, Business Line, Product Line).

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering (industrial, production, mechanical, electrical, metallurgical).
  • Extensive experience in Supplier Quality and/or Quality activities with expertise across technical areas, program management, compliance / general product quality areas and process knowledge aligned with engineered equipment industry.
  • Proven leadership in driving results and process improvements, including strong Change Acceleration Process skills.
  • Quality experience with a focus on customer experience as the number 1 driver.
  • Understands concept of sustainability and able to discuss sustainability activities with suppliers. Proactive approach to promoting sustainability to reduce carbon and improve waste management, whilst not compromising on manufacturing activities
  • Ability to audit special processes such as heat treatment, painting, and coating according to international standards (e.g., CQI by AIAG, FROSIO for painting, or equivalent).
  • Ability to audit supplier compliance with GE's Supplier Responsibility Guidelines (SRG), ensuring suppliers comply with local law and GE standards in areas of environment, health, safety, employment, security, and human rights.
  • Excellent Lean experience and continuous improvement mindset, simplifying processes and removing waste.
