Job Description Summary
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you are responsible and accountable for a wide range of supplier quality related activities such as Supplier Approval and Qualification, manage surveillance and inspections as per ITPL, review and approve EoMRs, trigger and lead problem solving missions and lead supplier development programs.
It is expected that you establish yourself as a subject matter expert by demonstrating the ability to work with stakeholders and suppliers to improve manufacturing processes, identify risks, quick reaction to supplier escapes, manage supplier approvals & product qualifications.
The ability to travel required is 30%

Roles and Responsibilities
- Includes both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development. Includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence. SQEs have various levels of differentiation which are related to level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage vendors.
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a discipline and analytical thinking to execute policy/strategy. Basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
- Jobs at this level function with some autonomy but are subject to functional practices and precedents or are covered by well-defined policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
- Uses some judgment and has the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated, day-to-day problems. Has ability to prioritize information for data analysis. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- The responsibilities are not only limited to the above mentioned and might change from time to time based of the business priorities.
- Additional scope that is relevant to the role might be assigned by the People Leader.
- Execute Qualification tasks: Follow qualification plan, coach supplier, oversee qualification activities at supplier.
- Manage inspections: Follow ITPLs and manage inspections accordingly (may be waived or outsourced to 3rd parties). Includes documentation and parts inspection.
- Review EoMRs: Review all documentation coming from manufacturing phase.
- Manage NCRs, PSRs and 8Ds: Timely closure of NCRs. Connect with suppliers and engineering for disposition and CAPAs. Coach suppliers on Problem solving.
- Manage Field Services Suppliers: Manage approval, surveillance and development of FS suppliers.
- Support Customer audits: Pre audit suppliers, prepare supplier for customer audits
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Drive Continuous improvement and Lean at the assigned supplier for better supplier performance.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, college or university of technology (or National diploma with at least 5 years of experience in (Quality, Manufacturing and Sourcing Job families)
- Proficient in OneSteam ERP (SAP), PowerNow NCR, SSP, Gensuite, MTA, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, RPDM (Engineering database)
- Knowledgeable in 8D Methodology, Supplier Responsibility Governance (SRG), Lean, Statistical Process Control, NCR management, FMEA, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), ISO9001; ISO14001; OHSAS18001
- Certified ISO 9001-2015 Auditor,
Desired Qualifications and expertise
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and resolve problems
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
- Certified Quality Engineer
- Experience in Quality and Sourcing related roles
- Project Management Experience
- Experience or certification in NDT and Welding
- You are autonomous and able to prioritize and plan according to business needs and expectations
- You proactively engage with key stakeholders to share views and understand strategy
- You are someone who brings a desire to excel, ensure process adherence and promote an healthy and effective interaction with internal customers and suppliers.
- Team player, reliable and trustworthy
