Designs, programs, documents, tests, and fixes bugs involved in creating and maintaining applications and frameworks involved in a software release lifecycle resulting in a digital product. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of several product lines within the Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) Platform.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship for 1-2 cross-functional scrum teams.
  • Lead team to deliver product features on-time with high quality.
  • Collaborate with product to create release plans based on business value and technical feasibility.
  • Throughout product release cycle, proactively identify and solve for risks and remove barriers.
  • Establish Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices from requirements gathering to software design and implementation to deployment and support.
  • Establish Agile best practices. Innovate and introduce new processes or technologies to improve team velocity.
  • Set team member performance goals and career plan. Perform 1-1s and performance reviews.
  • Motivate and energize team towards common business goals and vision. Promote a collaborative, accountable and trusting environment.
  • Effectively collaborate and influence across various GE departments including Product, Services, and Sales.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires significant experience in the Digital Technology & Software Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

Experience: 14+ Years

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience building scalable web applications
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Python
  • Familiarity with relational databases
  • Experience with container technologies
  • Knowledge in Typescript and Angular
  • Demonstrated knowledge with CI/CD
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Experience in leading software teams
  • Bonus - Knowledge of power systems or background in electrical engineering
