The Senior Radiological Engineer - Dose & Dispersion will contribute to the Dose and Dispersion team in areas of dose consequence and dispersion analyses within the nuclear, radiological, and safety analysis engineering function. In particular, the Senior Radiological Engineer will perform, verify, and mentor for the team in source term, decay heat, dose and dispersion analyses, ALARA and other radiological nuclear safety analyses supporting GEH's next generation of Light Water Reactor (LWR) the BWRX-300, next generation reactor designs (GEN 4), and products, designs and services related to servicing our existing fleets & fuel.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform technical evaluations and provide technical support in areas of source term, decay heat, dose and dispersion analyses, ALARA and other radiological nuclear safety analyses.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate activities with internal and external project managers, technical personnel, and customers on engineering/technical issues.
- Maintain a high standard of quality and safety while meeting baseline project schedule and cost objectives.
- Prepare, document and present technical data to internal and external customers.
- Contribute to team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.
- Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with NRC, CNSC, or other regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards.
- Mentor and guide early career engineers.
Basic Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in engineering, physics, or closely related science discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in nuclear safety analysis and methods, or nuclear fuel, core, or plant design.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in nuclear radiological analysis.
Eligibility Requirements
- The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
Desired Characteristics
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Experience with BWR technology and sodium fast reactor technology.
- Knowledge of plant operational support.
- Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements.
- Experience with ORIGEN, RADTRAD, GALE, MCNP, SCALE, MELCOR, MAAP, MACCS.
- Object-oriented programming experience such as Java, C#, C++.
- Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others.
- Honest and straightforward with a high level of personal integrity.
- Work easily and communicate effectively within a team environment.
- Strong personal commitment and determination.
- Detail oriented and accountable for results.
The base pay range for this position is $112K - 160K. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on 2/27/25.
The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
