Job Description Summary

GE's Power Conversion business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers' power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world's major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the holder of this position has overall responsibility and accountability for Quality in the Northern Europe region. Setting standards and supporting business needs across a complex product, project & services portfolio, and driving actions to optimize and embed Quality performance in all our activities.

The role is a pivotal position that demands both technical expertise and strategic leadership. Ultimately leading the Quality Assurance organisation to generate a strong quality culture of engaged and motivated staff maintaining strong working relationships with internal, external, customers and stakeholders.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Owns the Quality strategy, with emphasis on creating added value, business growth and significantly minimizing the cost of poor Quality; engage with key business stakeholders to lead initiatives to deliver improvement targets and engage them in the development of a Quality based culture
  • Ensure that quality strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets and which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market and in a sustained manner
  • Leads and manages the Quality function from new product/system conception through to warranty analysis to ensure a proactive culture so that customers receive the services to the highest standard of quality possible
  • Implement and maintain a quality improvement process targeting reduction in product and process variation; leverages and adapts metrics to measure performance against Quality objectives, with clear accountability and ownership
  • Ensures that harmonized Quality System requirements are effectively established and maintained, in compliance with all regulatory standards and authorities; interacts with third party and customer auditors
  • Assist in continuous improvement activities throughout the business ensuring that problems are prevented and that customer requirements are met with any problems resolved effectively and economically
  • Work closely with business leaders to drive profit, set objectives, and execute preventive actions
  • Lead and develop a culture supportive of the GE Vernova Way, ensuring effective communication across the Quality organization, engaging with team members to ensure understanding and alignment with operational goals. Provide leadership development and performance feedback to staff members, coach and mentor across the organization
  • Evaluate the quality challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
  • Establish quality and reliability standards by studying industry benchmarks and the requirements of customers and research/design and development, and define the metrics required to assess performance against standards
  • Work to prevent non-conformances, customer complaints, concession and rework alongside Manufacturing/ Engineering and Operations to develop corrective and preventative actions within required time-frame
  • Ensure effective internal and external audits happen as well as assessment and audit of supplier/subcontractors to minimise non-value added
  • Be the expert in problem solving methodologies and ensure strict adherence to the process

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technical field, while an advanced degree (MBA/Masters) is a strong asset
  • Appropriate qualification in quality management
  • Significant exposure to the disciplines of global Quality leadership, in complex global engineering, supply chain, project management & services environments

Experience:

  • Significant leadership in demanding Quality-focused industries, i.e. offshore wind, automotive, aviation, defence and nuclear
  • Considerable and diverse demonstrable experience of leading a quality function with a proven track record in strategic quality leadership delivering effective quality strategies, policies, processes and systems
  • A background in Operational Excellence, Manufacturing, or other technical departments is beneficial
