GE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage combines advanced energy conversion and storage systems to meet the electrification needs of utilities and Industries.

As a key member of a global and matrixed design team, Senior Program Manager is responsible for managing NTI/NPI/ DMP programs across portfolios, ensuring that it align with business goals and are completed on time and within budget. Works closely with the PMO office to support operations, process improvement initiatives, resource loading & levelling at portfolio level. Play a key role in communication, risk management and decision-making, while driving continuous improvement across the organization's program portfolios. Work with Global team to manage critical programs which includes hardware & software activities covering Industrial drives, Synchronous Condensers, Switch gears, Solar & Storage products.

Job Description

Role Summary / Purpose:

The Senior Program Manager as a member of Power Conversion & Storage team will be a self-drive candidate responsible to

  • Manage NPI, Sustaining programs across multiple portfolios which includes but not limited to power electronic drives, switch gears, Rotating Machines, Synchronous Condensers and BESS products
  • Work closely with portfolio manager on slotting resources across programs based on program priority.
  • Support PMO office on process improvement initiatives.
  • Define program charter, work with sponsor to secure budget, resources and agree upon the timelines.
  • Understand product requirements, derive scope, breakdown requirements to tasks to manage in JIRA and Smartsheet.
  • Proactively develop, maintain, drive, and communicate project timelines to broader cross-functional team.
  • Run periodic scrums to manage sprints and daily issues.
  • Manage program risk & changes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Evaluating program performance and preparing project progress reports.
  • Publishing program dashboards, milestone reports and health status.
  • Monitor planned vs. actual program budget, publish program spend, variance and forecast.
  • Demonstrate Cost-out mind set on the product design during the NPI program life cycle.
  • Identify and evaluate sources of new product parts in partnership with Sourcing.
  • Work with Manufacturing to understand production issues, facilitate to resolve product issues with the help of design team.
  • Lead & facilitate design reviews, track formal actions to closure.
  • Smooth transition of product solution to projects team.
  • Understand fleet issues & facilitate design team for resolution.
  • Ensure continuous communication and update to all stakeholders.
  • Continuously evaluate the program lessons learned, both during project gates and after milestones and delivery.
  • Support organizational continuous quality improvement processes to reduce defects in parts, repairs, and service.
  • Other responsibilities include working closely with Product Management, Sales, Design Consultancies, Marketing Communications, Supply Chain, Suppliers, and Customer Support to deliver winning product that ensure incremental revenue, customer satisfaction, time to market, and margin goals are met.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering with passion in program management.
  • 12-18 years of Program Management experience preferably from managing power electronic drives, Rotating Machines, Synchronous Condensers based NPI programs.
  • Task management using JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheet
  • Certified in project management tools PMP or Prince2.

Desired Characteristics

  • Good IT skills and Experience with the Microsoft packages, PLM, SAP or equivalent EPR knowledge.
  • Awareness on power electronic drives and solutions for industry and renewable application.
  • Awareness on Industrial Controller Software development powered by Real Time operating System.
  • Awareness on Vxworks, CPLD, HMI software development.
  • Ability to recognize UL, IEC, ISO standards & understand EU & NA regulatory requirements.
  • DMAIC process, FMEA, 8D, Fish bone analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to motivate people.
  • Customer-focused and solution-oriented.
  • Capability of coaching and leading project teams.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in teams in an environment with tight deadlines.
  • Open-minded and good at sharing and gathering information within a team.
