Job Description Summary

The NAM Industrial Technical Application Engineering Lead - Monitoring and Diagnostics is responsible for providing technical sales support for the GE Digital Energy substation automation product portfolio. This includes collaborating closely with customers to ascertain requirements, demonstrate solutions, and promote the business value proposition of Digital Energy's products and solutions.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Engage strategically with accounts headquartered in North America (NAM).
  • Conduct customer fleet assessments to evaluate potential growth opportunities for current M&D offerings and future needs, providing feedback to the Regional Sales Manager (RSM) and the business. This includes assessing the current fleet of monitored and unmonitored assets and understanding customers' medium- to long-term plans.
  • Act as the voice of the customer by gathering feedback on the current M&D fleet and services.
  • Periodically review performance as a supplier to derive M&D's value to the customer.
  • Liaise with the product management team and engineering to convey customer feedback, prioritizing key customer pain points.
  • Manage and track key pilot projects using Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to ensure the final delivery meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Provide technical and product training to customers as needed.
  • Support regional channel partners with product training and transactional processes.
  • Assist with the technical development of proposals, ensuring compliance with customer specifications by working closely with engineering, product managers, and proposal managers to generate competitive proposals.
  • Participate and contribute to industry standards and circles such as IEEE, Cigre, and others.
  • Act as an expert consultant to guide customers in planning and developing technical solutions.
  • Provide technical support to commercial teams, offering expertise during customer presentations, demonstrations, evaluations, and testing.
  • Track issues discovered during product demonstrations, evaluations, and testing, and follow up with the Technology team to resolve them.
  • Lead technical presentations for customers in support of sales or service.
  • Provide product training to customers and the sales force.
  • Assist customers in product testing at their locations.
  • Work directly with customers to influence technical specifications and support the sales team in closing key orders.
  • Provide pre-sales technical support to customers and the sales team.
  • Develop product proposals based on customer requests for quotes and specific applications.
  • Outline, present, and sell the value of GE products and services to meet customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships at the technical levels of customer organizations.
  • Coordinate with sales teams to make customer calls and presentations, and participate in bid meetings and site walk-throughs as necessary.
  • Support the development of new leads and market opportunities in the sales region.
  • Assist Commercial Segment Leaders and Product Line Leaders in defining and executing product line strategy, focusing on product enhancement, new product introductions, and value proposition.
  • Provide an essential link between the customer and marketing, engineering, and product development teams.
  • Collaborate with peers and management to enhance selling techniques and approaches in line with the region's growth objectives and initiatives.
  • Provide input on market dynamics, such as competitive intelligence and industry trends, to the Marketing and Business teams.
  • Prepare and present technical presentations, white papers, and case studies at industry conferences.
  • Other tasks based on business need

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical degree/experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in substation asset monitoring.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to contribute to technical papers.
  • Strong verbal and written skills in English.
  • Excellent knowledge of the M&D product line and services.
  • Good awareness of product specifications and limitations.
  • Good understanding of substation asset monitoring.
  • Proficiency with the Salesforce platform, Speak4GE, and ServiceMax for CRM.
  • Knowledge of contractual terms and conditions.
  • Familiarity with M&D customer service processes and engineering escalation.
  • Understanding of quality issue resolution processes such as 8D, RCA, and CI.
  • Hands-on expertise in configuring and troubleshooting transformer dissolved gas analysis devices.
  • Expertise in transformer monitoring and diagnostic applications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working successfully in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and interact with all levels of customers.
  • Strong background in a customer-facing role.
  • Ability to work efficiently without direct supervision.
  • Desire to work outside of boundaries and drive change.

The base pay range for this position is 111,200.00 - 148,300.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% variable incentive bonus. This posting is expected to close on 2/10/25.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
