As a Senior Engineer in the Mechanical Systems and Design Laboratory, GE Vernova Advanced Research and Development Center, you will work on the design, development, and advanced manufacturing of advanced mechanical components and/or systems for a broad range of current and future GE products. These are applied in the GE Vernova businesses including Power, Wind, Grid and Digital. GE Vernova Advanced Research and Development Center works on technologies including carbon capture, 100% H2 combustion, Advanced Manufacturing, Next Generation Nuclear, super critical CO2, electric machines, onshore and offshore wind turbines, gas and steam power generation systems, hybrid energy storage.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design, analysis, and testing of machinery components and systems including conceptual design, detailed design, testing, validation, and product implementation.
  • Work with other support functions and/or external suppliers to meet project deliverables.
  • Prepare and participate in project and technical reviews.
  • Provide expertise to resolve technical challenges across the organization.
  • Participate in technology road mapping and competitive assessment to drive new technology programs.
  • Work with internal and external collaborators in developing new project proposals and initiatives.
  • Stay connected with industry and university trends, helping GE Vernova stay current with new technologies in the areas of mechanical and mechatronic systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction across the group to grow overall technical capability and product knowledge in technical focus areas.
  • Provide technical development across the organization through effective coaching/mentoring.
  • Foster a multidisciplinary and inclusive team environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics in rotating machinery and/or rotating components design or related field with a minimum of 6 years of industrial experience OR MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Applied Mechanics in rotating machinery and/or rotating components design or related field and a minimum of 10 years of industrial experience
  • Expertise with the design, analysis and testing of mechanical and mechatronic systems.
  • Expertise with systems dynamics modeling, model based controller design, and implementation using hardware
  • Experience in conceiving, developing, and carrying out experiments in component hardware and transferring component level tests into full scale hardware solutions.
  • Proficiency using numerical computation tools (MATLAB, Python, etc).
  • Experience in conceiving, developing and carrying out experiments in mechanical/mechatronic component hardware and transferring component level tests into full scale hardware solutions.
  • Interpersonal, leadership and communication skills in a global team environment.
  • Execution mindset and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Must be 18 years or older.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with system modeling and multiphysics simulations
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team.
  • Proficiency using 3D solid modeling software (e.g., NX, SOLIDWORKS, Creo)
  • Proficiency using finite element analysis using different tools (ANSYS/ABAQUS, etc) and multiphysics simulation tools (COMSOL)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven track record of leading teams to deliver on business priorities
  • Makes decisions and manages conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to take ownership of issues and drive solutions

The base pay range for this position is $111,200 - $185,400. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. This position will be posted until at least 1/22/2025.
