Job Description Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior EHS Leader to oversee and drive the EHS programs within our organization. The Senior EHS Leader will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive industrial health, and safety management system, ensuring compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, and fostering a culture of safety across all levels of the organization. This role will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust EHS training program.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Sr. EHS Leader you will:
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local workplace health and safety regulations and with GE Vernova (GEV) EHS standards and management systems.
- Administer and manage the use of GEV Gensuite/Benchmark EHS software tools for the Nuclear Energy business. Ensure EHS reporting and metrics meet GEV rollup requirements.
- Lead the rollout of GEV EHS Standards and initiatives across the Nuclear Energy business. Including Framework, Read Across, Life Saving Rules, Core Requirements, and Technical Standards.
- Implement a comprehensive ergonomics program aimed at preventing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).
- Lead and manage all aspects of an industrial hygiene program, ensuring regulatory compliance, evaluating workplace hazards, and developing control measures.
- Manage the removal/abatement of hazardous materials like asbestos and lead-based paint. Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations to minimize exposure risks, and ensuring proper documentation and clearance testing are completed.
- Provide guidance/mentor the Operations Team to implement robust reporting and incident investigation systems
- Administer and maintain the Wilmington Safety & Health Manual. Ensuring all safety procedures and documentation are up-to-date, readily accessible, and acting as the primary point of contact for safety document related inquiries.
- Provide leadership and direction to EHS teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety excellence.
- Serve as the key liaison with senior management on EHS matters, providing regular updates on program performance, challenges, and compliance status.
- Conduct regular EHS audits, inspections, and assessments to identify risks and ensure compliance with EHS regulations and best practices.
- Develop and oversee incident reporting and investigation procedures to ensure swift corrective actions are taken.
- Manage and track EHS performance metrics, KPIs, and compliance audits to ensure a proactive approach to risk management.
- Analyze workplace near miss and injury data to identify trends and patterns and develop targeted initiatives to reverse negative trends.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (HR, Operations, Engineering, etc.) to ensure EHS objectives are integrated into the day-to-day operations.
- Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and safety communications to senior management, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent preferably in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 8 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 8 years of experience working with OSHA, and other governmental organizations.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects while ensuring timely delivery and quality results.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, in both written and verbal form, to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Possesses the ability to represent GE in a professional manner to outside agencies, customers, and vendors.
- Prior experience with controlled documentation/documentation change management
- Demonstrated initiative in proactively identifying future potential safety risks and suggesting or implementing appropriate countermeasures.
- Ability to read, understand, interpret, and apply applicable EHS regulations as they apply to the plant site.
- Expertise in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and other basic IT systems.
- An offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
- Must be 18 years or older and have legal authorization to work in the United States. If you are not a US person (a US Citizen, lawful permanent resident or have been admitted as a refugee or been granted asylum), you must be authorized to have access to nuclear technology prior to being hired to work in the nuclear business.
- Must be able to relocate to Wilmington, NC
- Ability and willingness to obtain/maintain Emergency Organization (EO) qualification(s)
- Must maintain after hours cell phone availability.
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

The base pay range for this position is $115-130k. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on 3/11/2025.
The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
