Essential Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for setting clear vision and strategic priorities for BWRX-300 New Units Project Execution by managing and influencing relationship horizontally across all functions, especially with the key lifecycle COEs (Sales, Engineering, Logistics, Sourcing, etc.).

The Senior Director, Advanced Nuclear Strategic Projects & PMO Leader is critical in ensuring that our projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget while fostering a culture of continuous improvement through lessons learned and training.

In this role, the responsibilities include, but are not limited:

  • Lead Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) activities related to SMR project delivery to ensure timely / quality execution, strong customer satisfaction, and project profitability.
  • Drive effective portfolio level planning, cost management, and prioritization of project execution to ensure maximum profitability for the Advanced Nuclear business.
  • Build consistent processes and standards for project execution to deliver for customers and partners, following SQDC model and driving favorable margin on projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including EPC partners, to structure projects that enhance win rates and execution capability.
  • Work closely with the risk manager and contract manager to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with ITO contracts.
  • Effectively and efficiently ensure the turnover to the Order-to-Remittance (OTR) delivery team for project execution.
  • Facilitate post-project reviews and ensure findings are integrated into planning and execution processes.
  • Develop and implement a structured process for capturing and disseminating lessons learned from projects to inform future initiatives.
  • Utilizing LEAN methodology champion process improvement related to project execution and customer engagement to ensure the PM (Project Management) team performs at a high level and delivers world class results.
  • Establish and oversee training programs aimed at enhancing project management and technical skills among team members.
  • Oversee the management of physical tools and software tools essential for project execution. Ensure that staff are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed in their roles.
  • Oversee strategic planning processes, including setting long-term objectives, defining KPIs and evaluating risks for future projects.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
  • Create an environment which enables the attraction and retention of qualified talent to the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.
  • Obtain PMO Project Manager Qualification within 24 months of assignment including successful training, passing a review board, and obtaining the Project Management Institute's Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to travel (~25%). International travel as required.

Desired Characteristics :

  • Location: Wilmington, NC
  • Understanding of large-scale capital project costs and estimates.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to work independently with minimal direction required.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Significant Project, Construction, Field Engineering and/or Contract Management experience in power industry.
  • Experience in a customer facing role working through negotiations and solving issues
  • High energy level, self-starter.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment, influence and motivate diverse teams to achieve a unified goal.
  • Passion and knowledge of LEAN implementation in a Services organization.
  • Strong Portfolio Experience; strategic thinking and problem solving
  • Strong people management, team building, performance management, strategic and operations planning, process management, negotiation, and relationship management skills
  • Promotes a diverse and inclusive workforce with the ability to attract, mentor and grow talent
  • Strong skills in customer relationship building, facilitation, and matrix management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages results.
  • Strong interpersonal and leaderships skills to gain acceptance and buy in from other matrix functions to accomplish improvement projects
  • PMP Certification, Project Management Leadership Program (PMLP) Graduate, or other Project Management training.
  • Excellent English language skills (written and spoken).
