Job Description Summary

The Senior Application Engineer will lead the development and delivery of BWRX-300 technical information to potential customer and customers in Canada other than OPG prior to site specific design contract execution. Coordination will be required with Licensing, Engineering and Product Management and external parties to ensure the technical information is consistent and meets the customers' needs. The Senior Application Engineering will interface at a variety of levels within the customer organization to ensure the GEH BWRX-300 product offering aligns with their expectations and that future contracts are obtained.

This role will report to the Application Engineering Leader.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

The daily activities and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate customer, country/regional and site specific requirements for each identified project with support from Licensing and Engineering, third party engineering companies and the customer
  • Determine any modifications or additions to the standard design for identified projects
  • Coordinate development and review of site layouts
  • Coordinate screening of individual site parameters including external hazards against standard design capabilities
  • Coordinate development of preliminary heat balances
  • Support project delivery partner selection and division of responsibility development for each project
  • Support development of delivery schedules and cost estimates for specific projects
  • Identify issues that could potentially impact the ability of GEV supplied equipment to comply with customer/project requirements
  • Represent Engineering, Fuel, Services, Sourcing and Project Line at customer meetings while maintaining a high level of business acumen and commercial awareness
  • Own pre-ITO technical deliverables for all assigned opportunities, regardless of complexity. For complex deals, coordinate support from the broader organization.
  • Gather and synthesize information from customers and other sources about each opportunity including the customer's development plan, strategy, and evaluation method
  • Inform and educate customers about BWRX-300 technology and solutions through in-person and online presentations
  • Work closely with the Sales and the Product Line management teams to ensure optimum competitiveness
  • Gather competitive data and support post-win and post-mortem analyses
  • Support internal productivity and quality initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Major
  • Minimum of 7 years of significant proven experience in Application or Sales Engineering, Integrated Plant Engineering, Construction Project Management, or in similar roles.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% mostly to Regina
  • Have unrestricted legal authorization to work in Canada

Desired Characteristics

  • Field experience on new nuclear power plant construction projects
  • Knowledgeable of nuclear power systems, nuclear power plants, controls, equipment and terminology
  • Knowledge of nuclear regulations and ability to interact with nuclear regulatory agencies
  • Knowledge and experience with engineering and project tools, processes and software
  • Well established planning, organizing, influencing and networking skills to implement courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Global mindset with a willingness to understand diverse cultures and work collaboratively
  • Drive to interface effectively with all levels of internal and external organizations
  • Strong team player who collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
  • Financial acumen to identify and optimize solutions to bring customer value and expand margin for GEH
  • Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex ideas
