The Secondary Design Engineer is responsible for the design and engineering of the Control, Protection, Regulation, Metering, Monitoring and other Low Voltage (LV) matters of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) substation projects in the Power System industry sector. This position will work closely with other designers, engineers and the project managers to ensure compliance with contractual specifications, project schedules, and budget constraints.

Job Description

Key Missions

The Secondary Design Engineer will have the following key missions:

  • Establish basic design and technical solutions for Control, Protection, Regulation, Metering and Monitoring in compliance with contractual specifications, local and international standards, employers guidelines and rules during the Basic Design/Principle phase.
  • Define all equipment and documents necessary to meet customer needs, including Cubicles for Control & Protection
  • Establish technical specifications for LV equipment supplied by internal partners and external suppliers.
  • Analyze technical proposals received and participate in technical clarifications with equipment suppliers by supporting the Sourcing department.
  • Establish detail design and drawings in compliance with basic design, using CAD tools in line with company processes.
  • Coordinate the detail design process of partners and suppliers for consistent solutions, interface management and quality
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests and reception of HV equipment in compliance with contractual technical specifications and project time schedules
  • Integrate all subsystems to a common with interface definition, creation of LV/communication cable schedule and diagrams connecting them
  • Establish Bill of Quantities for LV equipment (Request for Procurement) and technical specifications for necessary erection tools

Performance Measurements

The performance of the Secondary Design Engineer will be measured based on:

  • Quality of design and accuracy of technical specifications
  • Efficient management of detailed design using CAD tools
  • Compliance with contractual specifications, project schedules, and budget constraints
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members
  • Ability to analyze technical proposals and make informed decisions

Desired Profile

The ideal candidate for the Secondary Design Engineer position should possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Graduate from Electrical or Electro-technical school
  • Knowledge of electrical system equipment and concepts of power&transmission systems
  • Knowledge of electrical LV installations, including control and protection systems
  • Expertise in Digital and Conventional Control Systems
  • Knowledge of different telecom interfaces for each technology
  • Ability to design schematics and cable synoptic using principal diagrams
  • Knowledge of basic electro technique rules, apparent power, and power factors
  • ability to compare materials to identify deviations from contractual specs and standards
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Fluent in Polish and English, reading / writing

Experience

  • Skills in designing and engineering process of electrical Low Voltage system for protection and control
  • Familiar with concepts and solution of digital and conventional control systems, including basics of communication protocols
  • Knowledge of turnkey projects development and interfaces.
  • Knowledge of international standards of electrical system/components
  • Knowledge of local standards and guidelines and its application
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in High Voltage (HV) Transmission Substation activities
  • Experience in designing schematics and cable synoptic using principal diagrams
  • Knowledge and experience of standard CAD tools, e.g., EngineeringBase
