Job Description

Role Summary

The resident Supplier Project Manager (SPM) will act as the NAM GSI representative for the portfolio of transformers supplied by Prolec. The SPM will be a resident at the Prolec, Monterrey MX factory (other location may be considered) and act as expeditor, drive resolution to quality/technical issues, support FAT, manage and track portfolio issues, engage with factory personnel to understand schedule status and challenge any misses, support customer meetings and report out as required, etc. This role will include the portfolio of transformers utilized on our NAM GSI portfolio of projects (which will include Monterrey, Canoas, Waukesha Services locations) In particular the individual will:,

  • Support the project from the ITO phase to ensure alignment between the customer's requirements and the proposal of the selected supplier.
  • Validate alignment between purchase orders and the technical requirements, timelines and specifications defined by the customer / Engineering.Manager the supplier manufacturing milestones against baseline, forecast and actuals.
  • Validating that actual manufacturing progress aligns with reported timelines.
  • Supplier site visits to verify production consistency and potential delays.
  • Challenging supplier proposed timelines and collaborating with internal teams to mitigate risks associated with production delays.
  • Proposing solutions and improvements to optimize the manufacturing process and enhance supplier performance.
  • Ensure that the specified scope (package/material) is completely delivered at the required location, according to the project incoterms conditions, at the right time as per the contractual requirements with the quality requirements specified.
  • Actively supporting engineering and quality functions in the expediting of critical documentation. The Supplier Project Manager will review and monitor critical document submittals and approval status with Engineering and Quality function for the timely release of the Manufacturing clearance to meet "On time delivery" targets.
  • Responsible for the execution and quality metrics of the suppliers including Schedule, Say/Do, OTD, NCP, ACT, RCAs, closure, etc

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage all purchase orders related to power transformers, reactors, and instrument transformers, from the ITO phase through project completion.
  • Ensures that all Progress reports are received from the suppliers in the correct form at the correct time. Supplier Project Manager must review the report and assess against the actual manufacturing occurring in the facility and manage all process.
  • Lead Kick-off Meetings on site to ensure supplier is clear on project expectations.
  • Ensure supplier's baseline schedule, technical docs, reports are available for tracking and monitoring.
  • Ensures that order fulfillment plans are prepared, maintained and updated timely.
  • Expedites the suppliers for progress of packages allocated for their scope including coordination with internal functions to meet the project on-time deliverables.
  • Monitors progress by conducting supplier visits at the supplier manufacturing location as well as their sub-suppliers' manufacturing locations and offices.
  • Plan vs Actual comparative analysis of manufacturing planning, raw material procurement and actual manufacturing activities. Expeditor shall share Expediting Visit Reports.
  • Conducts desk expediting review meetings with suppliers and shares minutes of meeting with the project team.
  • In case of deviations from specifications (non-conformances), assessing the effect on achieving on-time delivery in coordination with Engineering and Supplier Quality.
  • Works with suppliers to overcome delays with a mitigation plan.
  • Highlight any bottlenecks reported by Supplier as "areas of concern".
  • Supports Sourcing/Procurement on Claim management in case of supplier delays or time extensions to be issued where delays are caused by supplier. Supplier Project Manager to issue relevant notifications to suppliers for delaysSupports Sourcing/Procurement on Claim management in case of supplier quality issues where the issues are caused by the supplier. Supplier Project Manager to work with Quality team to ensure ACTs and NCPs are issued and relevant notifications due to delays as a result of quality issues.
  • Works with the supplier to ensure the engineering drawings are delivered on time, reviewed by the engineering team time, and approved by the customer.
  • Coordinates with GR Coordinator to ensure GRN is completed on time and reflects the accurate date to publish accurate PK%.
  • Manage overall time schedule with supplier prior to order placement.
  • Provides supplier performance feedback to sourcing/procurement team.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Project Management.
  • Expertise in the manufacturing of Power Transformers, reactors or Instrument transformers.
  • Knowledge and experience interpreting drawings/specifications, project schedules, and quality documentation.
