We are seeking a Research Engineer with expertise in control systems, signal processing, and algorithm development to work with experts on the design and implementation of innovative solutions for GE Vernova's next-generation products. This role will focus on advancing technologies that facilitate the energy transition.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement innovative model-based control strategies for complex systems, including but not limited to power plants, wind turbines, and other energy-generating equipment.
  • Develop dynamic models of systems using MATLAB, Simulink, or Python; validate these models through simulation and experimental data.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including validation engineers, software developers, and domain experts, to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Lead research projects from conception through execution, including conducting literature reviews, gap analyses, and experimental design.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and project progress to stakeholders.
  • Explore new methodologies in advanced controls and develop proof-of-concept prototypes to demonstrate feasibility.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in model-based design and control systems, applying new knowledge to improve existing processes and tools.
  • Keep abreast of the latest advancements in control systems, signal processing, and AIML through literature review and participation in relevant conferences and seminars.
  • Identify innovative solutions and processes that can be patented. This includes documenting inventions and filing for patents to protect intellectual property.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field or Masters in similar field with 5 years of experience.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental concepts in control system design and signal processing.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the programming languages commonly used in engineering applications, such as Python, MATLAB, C/C++, etc.
  • Experience with data analysis and manipulation using tools like Pandas, NumPy, or MATLAB.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and creatively. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build prototypes and quickly develop proof of concepts to show solution feasibility.
  • Willingness to work from the office located in Bengaluru, India.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated leadership capabilities in managing multimillion-dollar programs.
  • Experience mentoring early-career and mid-career engineers to support their professional growth.
  • Proven ability to manage risk and uncertainty effectively within a dynamic priority-setting environment.
  • Strong technical acumen combined with an understanding of a wide range of technology domains; adept at influencing, facilitating, and negotiating solutions.
  • Demonstrated capability to take innovative ideas from research through to product realization.
  • Familiarity with estimation techniques like EKF, UKF, etc.; advanced controls techniques like H-infinity, MPC, Robust controls, etc.
  • Experience with the MATLAB autocoder and Simulink coder is preferred.
  • Familiarity with software development best practices, including version control (e.g., Git), and agile methodologies.
