Product quality review associated with the manufacturing process. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ownership includes both quality assurance and quality control.
  • Includes quality assurance of products, services, manufacturing processes. Includes conformance in manufacturing, incoming goods control, product inspection, witness points, etc.
  • Support, develop, create Quality work instructions and supporting QMS documentation such as quality equipment procedures, tool calibration, inspections, testing, etc.
  • Provide area leadership for all quality topics, including timely dispositions of non-conformances, QMS (Quality Management System) compliance including internal audits, and achieving cell goals for quality metrics.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications against physical parts to investigate non-conformances and effectively document / communicate findings.
  • Analyze internal and external quality data to identify high impact and recurring defect modes to drive meaningful corrective actions.
  • Determine root cause of non-conformances and implement corrective actions both internally and externally.
  • Coordinate with the global Supplier Quality Organization to improve the quality of raw materials, qualify new vendors, and assist in process changes and/or new product development.
  • Maintain familiarity with manufacturing processes and practices in order to continuously improve manufacturing quality.
  • Support goals for continuous improvement through Six Sigma and Lean methodology, and by coaching Kaizen project ideas generated by technicians.
  • Prepare and present quality data to plant leadership, including progress towards quality targets, current challenges, and corrective actions.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team.
  • For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE.
  • Explains technical information to others.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Experience in Quality (manufacturing).
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in an industrial equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical issues and implement solutions that account for ergonomic, quality and cost considerations.
  • Experience with heavy industrial assembly processes involving overhead cranes.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified or equivalent Quality certification.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical design ability.
  • Ability to manage priorities and achieve results.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
