Job Description Summary

The Field Services Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing field operations for GIS (up to 765kV) erection and commissioning activities for allocated projects. This role ensures high-quality service delivery, efficient resource use, and timely project completion. Key responsibilities include managing allocated field service team, coordinating schedules, ensuring safety and compliance, overseeing Hi-pot (High Voltage) testing by arranging suitable kits for each project, and collaborating with internal stakeholders - such as Project Management, Engineering, Quality & R&D -to ensure customer satisfaction through effective communication and support.

Key Responsibilities of Field Service Manager:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of field service technicians and engineers.
  • Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and provide regular feedback.
  • Ensure team compliance with safety standards, protocols, and company policies.

Field Operations Management:

  • Plan and oversee day-to-day field operations of allocated projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely service delivery.
  • Schedule field services, including installations, maintenance, repairs, and emergency responses.
  • Monitor work quality, address issues promptly, and maintain high standards in all service tasks.

Customer Support & Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding field service issues, inquiries, and feedback.
  • Address customer concerns and work proactively to improve satisfaction and build strong client relationships.
  • Communicate project updates, timelines, and service reports to clients and internal stakeholders.

Technical Support & Quality Assurance:

  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to field teams as needed ensuring timely maintenance and calibration of HV Kit and PD Watch Kit.
  • Ensure service work complies with regulatory requirements, company standards, and customer expectations.
  • Conduct audits and reviews of completed tasks to ensure quality and identify areas for improvement.

Budgeting & Resource Management:

  • Manage field service budgets, cost control and expense tracking for allocated projects and CAPEX budget/purchases.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure necessary tools, equipment, and parts are available.
  • Optimize workforce utilization and resource allocation to meet service demands and budgetary constraints.

Reporting & Data Analysis:

  • Prepare and submit regular performance reports, KPI metrics, and budget analyses.
  • Track and analyze field service data to drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Implement process improvements based on data insights and team feedback.

HV, PD and all digital product testing and commissioning coordination:

  • Coordinate and oversee planning for HV and Partial Discharge (PD) tests as part of the GIS commissioning process.
  • Ensure that necessary test equipment, such as Hi-pot and PD monitoring kits, are available, calibrated, and properly maintained for each project.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define testing requirements, align on specifications, and schedule tests according to the project timeline.
  • Supervise field engineers during the execution of HV and PD tests, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Submit the HV test protocol to customer for agreement/approval
  • Provide guidance, troubleshoot test setups, and manage any issues that arise during testing.
  • Validate the accuracy of the test setup with field HV testing engineer and ensure testing environments meet the conditions required for reliable results.
  • Validate recording of HV and PD test data with Quality team, ensuring thorough documentation of parameters, test results, and any deviations from expected performance.
  • Analyze test data in collaboration with quality team, identify any defects or anomalies that could impact GIS performance. Make informed recommendations to the field HV test engineer for corrective actions in case discrepancies or defects are detected.
  • Enforce compliance with safety standards, both internal and industry-wide, during HV and PD testing to prevent any risks to personnel or equipment.
  • Ensure tests are conducted according to IEC and IEEE standards, addressing specific requirements for high-voltage and partial discharge testing in GIS.
  • Share findings with customer and the internal stakeholders, documenting results as part of the commissioning records.
  • Act as the main point of contact for customers regarding HV and PD testing phases and digital product testing commissioning, updating them on test progress and responding to any queries.

Candidate should have strong leadership and communication abilities, should be proficient in project management tools and field service software (e.g., SAP, Salesforce), strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
