We deliver reactive power compensators such as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC), on which we are the global Centre of Excellence (CoE). Job Description

In this position, you will be an integral- and integrating part of our global Operations -team (OTR-Order to Remittance). You will be responsible of leading a Project Engineering Team who oversees engineering activities of the international FACTS projects from sales to project execution until to handover to after sales organization. You'll have the overall responsibility of the engineering coordination activities of the named project(s) in close cooperation with the project manager, project engineering team, and sub-contractors. The project engineering manager role includes also coordination and co-operation of the other multicultural GE units participating to the project over the globe.

Your duties would comprise of:

  • People Leader of Project Engineering Manager team (Technical Engineer Project Leaders)
  • Plan, organize, execute the overall activities of the projects on going with team support
  • Make sure that the Team leads the overall design activities and coordinate all engineering tasks required to execute the project from ITO (inquiry to order) handover to project delivery and make sure GE is complaint with project requirements.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are following Customer Techicnal Specification for the SVC/Statcom portfolio.
  • Support to manage the engineering deliverables in accordance to the given budget and delivery time using our internal tools: Master Document List, Jira, etc.
  • Monitor and manage the portfolio man hour budget, design quality plan and implement design change process periodically.
  • Closely monitor OTD (On-Time-Delivery), Say-Do, Activity Late targets throughout the project through the Tableau monitoring portal to meet PDG's monthly KPI goals.
  • Follow BMS (Business Process Model) guidelines on how to manage project engineering scope within the projects.
  • Forecast engineering hours in monthly basis with the project engineering team based on the engineering deliverables and ensure that the forecasted hours are properly distributed.
  • Ensure that the engineering budget deviations (plus or minus) are recorded in budget deviation tool.
  • Support RCA (root cause analysis), PSR (problem solving reports), in case require. Share lessons learned with the team in large during Team Huddles/All hands meeting.
  • Leading the Engineering Gate Review Meetings and ensure that the output is on budget and on-time.
  • Identify Risk & Opportunities during the project phase with the team according to GE procedures.
  • Guiding customers to right direction and securing the projects goals by efficient change management
  • Coordination of project's training activities, internal and customer
  • Management of assigned technical matters during site activities, trial period and hand-over to after sales
  • Ensure that the EHS guidelines followed.

Requirements

To succeed in this job, you should have a degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics) and/or equivalent knowledge and experience from:

  • 10 years of experience on engineering management on delivery projects or in FACTS
  • Successful experience in management of multi-disciplinary teams with multiple interfaces and with products coming from several countries
  • Good understanding of engineering management tools (example: Jira, SVN)
  • Fluent spoken and written language skills English, desirable Finnish
  • Willingness to travel
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills & experience

Desired Characteristics:

You will already have some working experience in an international environment, but above all we expect you to be a self-starter with high level of flexibility, resilience, and self-learning attitude. As a person, you are a solid team-player with good prioritizing, communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience on electrical substations or -equipment is a plus.
