Job Description Summary

During a period of rapid expansion GE Vernova are looking to recruit Project Engineering Leaders to work on our exciting new projects within our Northern European Grid Solutions Business which covers the UK & Ireland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. You'll be based in our Stafford office (circa 2 days per week), we have a flexible approach to working operating a hybrid system and reduced working hours on Fridays.

As a Project Engineering Leader you will be instructing, supervising co-ordinating and leading the engineering activities of the project in line with the project's safety, quality, time delivery, and cost criteria, you'll be the technical lead of electrical design and engineering of large energy projects - including preparing specifications, leading on deviations and clarifications, attending FATs and SATs.

As a Project Engineering Leader, you'll be co-ordinating design activities, managing the project design budget, overseeing the design change process, supervising, and coordinating engineering activities required to execute the project, whether done in house or by our delivery partners, and ensure technical co-ordination of the Grid Solutions Project.

Job Description

• Responsible for issuing consolidation of provisional drawing list of the project or of your work package, integrating submission dates.
• Manage global time schedule of concerned engineering activities, check coherency of links between engineering activities and other project functions activities (procurement, construction, commissioning) and organise follow up of critical activities of the project or of your discipline.
• Plan and manage delivery time of technical interfaces with your work package, put in place exchange interface sheets with partners, customer, and third-party contractors.
• Ensure on-time delivery of design to stakeholders with suitable quality including Partner documents.
• For large & complex projects support Project Engineering Director and Project I&I manager in the engineering change management.
• Lead & coordinate design teams - you'll be supported by Primary, Secondary and Civil Designers.
• Follow the engineering budget and identify potential savings and highlight to the Project Manager all instances requiring additional budget.
• Participate and contribute to the project multidisciplinary design reviews according to the EMH procedures and per the project strategy.
• Manage scope or design changes & prepare related claims and VO to be approved by Project Engineering Director or Project Manager.
• Analyse customer technical requirements, prepare and or consolidate clause by clause analysis and ensure compliance to Customer requirements through Technical Queries, identify, track, manage potential change.
• Represent customer interests in the design decisions at Project Manager's request.
• Validate design throughout customer acceptance.
• Ensure that Management of return status of project documentation internal or external (approved, comments, resubmit, rejected) is performed for your work package.
• Prepare or review technical specifications and supplier's documents to enable procurement of materials and plant detailed design.
• Check effectiveness of design against delivery of contract requirements within project budget and look for global cost optimisation in all design phase and mainly during basic design.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will have the following qualification and experience:

• Engineering degree level or equivalent education/experience
• Experience of Engineering activities as lead engineer in EPC type environment.
• Successful experience in project technical management in a multi-disciplinary team's context including multiple interfaces and with products coming from several countries.

Desired Characteristics:

• Knowledge of the Transmission or Distribution industry is essential.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are advantageous.
• Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of Renewable Energy systems is beneficial.
• Knowledge of GIS systems is beneficial.
