Job Description Summary

Product Safety Engineering is paramount in the design, manufacturing, testing, servicing, and monitoring of products. This role focuses on the integration of product safety risk assessments and principles throughout the entire design process and the elimination of safety concerns and risks that impact existing products in field. The impact of the role is cross-functional and collaborates with different departments to balance product safety, EHS, regulatory and compliance, and customer requirements.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Apply safety engineering techniques to ensure product reliability and safety.
  • Identify and mitigate safety risks through assessments, evaluations, and human factors principles to eliminate errors in operation and maintenance.
  • Lead safety risk assessments (PHA, HAZOP, ASR, risk modeling, etc.) for new and existing products.
  • Build expertise in Battery Energy Storage Systems and related technical areas to implement safety strategies effectively.
  • Leverage prior experience and technical knowledge to address challenges and develop solutions.
  • Understand key business drivers and team integration to achieve goals and enhance collaboration.
  • Exercise judgment and propose solutions with guidance, drawing on experience and internal resources.
  • Offer product safety training and oversee documentation for risk mitigation in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Support root cause analyses (RCA) for safety concerns by engaging with engineering, legal, and quality teams.
  • Drive resolution of safety-critical issues while advising on safe design practices to achieve acceptable risk levels.
  • Ensure safety across the product lifecycle while balancing operational, time, and cost constraints.
  • Document risk assessments and program statuses in the SAFER database.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute safety programs and processes.
  • Conduct research on safety standards and industry-specific equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Safety, or Industrial Engineering or similar field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant engineering experience in a design, systems, field operations, or product safety role
  • Familiarity with safety related Regulatory Compliance and Occupational Health standards

The salary range for this position is 88,600.00 - 118,100.00 - 147,600.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
