The Power Systems team helps solve exciting problems using advanced analytical tools and develop safe and operational performance-led solutions. The Power Systems Engineer will be involved throughout the design & development, procurement, manufacturing, test and commissioning phases of projects, and also possibly delivering in-service design and obsolescence support. You will use your key skills, knowledge and experience to support and influence the development and delivery of power systems.
In this role you will focus on:
- Undertake complex power system studies and analysis using advanced simulation software, such as MATLAB, DigSilent &/or eTAP.
- Perform system and equipment design and specification, support test & validation, commissioning and in through life service support.
- Ability to produce clear and concise engineering documentation.
- Ensuring Power System designs comply with the relevant health & safety, international standards, and class society rules where applicable.
We are looking for a professional engineer who:
- Has applicable, transferrable equipment and systems level knowledge & experience, ideally with deep domain experience in industrial, marine or naval defence applications.
- Has detailed working knowledge of power conversion and supporting systems.
- Can work with initiative on challenges, problem solving, ambitious, highly motivated and driven to succeed.
- Has working knowledge of marine classification society, MIL or DEF standards.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Knowledge of Engineering lifecycle processes is a plus.
- Willing to travel within UK and overseas for short-term working.
Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant subject, relevant experience would be beneficial.
- Is a sole UK National and holds, or is eligible to obtain, UK security clearance to SC level.
- Working towards or hold CEng qualification.
