Job Description Summary
The Power Performance team is seeking a Technical Leader to provide technical guidance & leadership for simulation and power curve delivery in the ITO & OTR phases. Scope includes developing our power performance predictive capabilities and delivery methods by enhancing our understanding of wind conditions and turbine design & operation, by improving our simulation capabilities, by leveraging data from our power curve test campaigns, and by developing tools to deliver power curves to our customers.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership within the power performance team with a focus on simulation capability and the creation & delivery of commercial power curves to our customers
- Ensure robust power curve release process & tools, including developing and overseeing tools that deliver power curves to our customers
- Execute and/or lead power performance simulations and surrogate model creation
- Develop and enhance power performance simulation capability relative to real wind & ambient conditions and in response to turbine design elements (blade dynamics, controls, efficiencies...)
- Lead power performance team and interfacing component engineering & system teams through new product development. Establish & communicate turbine design requirements to optimize power performance.
- Diagnose performance data from operating wind turbines. Support technical root cause analyses of field performance.
- Own and drive lessons learned, best practices and standardization into design related documentation and processes. Collaborate with other segments on this.
- Innovate to create power performance improvements & opportunities to develop and/or meet MGPP and MGTP plans
- Contribute to and/or own standard work processes and design practices
- Coach and mentor team members

Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant wind engineering experience
Desired Characteristics
- Experience with wind turbine simulation codes such as Simpack or Flex
- Demonstrated expertise in wind turbine simulation tool use & application
- Demonstrated experience in leveraging field or test data in comparison to prediction
- Demonstrated ability to work in a global, matrix organizational environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong technical aptitude & drive to improve simulation capability
- Experience with analysis, design, database and/or visualization tools such as Python, MATLAB, Simulink, ENOVIA, Tableau...
- System engineering experience (requirements, trade-offs, optimization...)
- Fluid mechanics (e.g. turbulence) and/or atmospheric sciences experience
- Wind turbine power performance test experience
- Wind turbine system design experience
- Wind turbine controls experience
- Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in Engineering
The salary range for this position is $111,200 - $185,400 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation. This posting is expected to close on January 18th or thereafter.
