Roles and Responsibilities
- Apply your knowledge in Aero Thermal Sciences to work on innovative solutions for GE Gas Power product portfolio.
- Learn required tools/processes and perform advanced computational fluid dynamics simulation and validate the models with published external results/results from in-house tests
- Deliver on assigned project tasks with minimal guidance and document results.
- Collaborate with the team to improve aero-thermal management for GE Vernova products
- Perform Literature Survey and State-of-the Art Landscape on Gas Turbine Aero-Thermal technologies.
Required Qualifications
Recently completed Ph.D in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering specializing in Gas Turbine Combustion/Heat Transfer/Thermal Management/Aerodynamics (< 11 months post completion of Ph.D Defense)
Strong background in Compressible Aerodynamics in Turbomachinery.
Good technical understanding of Gas-dynamics, unsteady-aerodynamics, & flow turbulence.
Simplifying complex fluid dynamics problem into 1D problems and reduced order models.
Experience in solving Multidisciplinary problem which include Fluid Dynamics e.g. Aeroelasticity and Aeroacoustics.
Hands on in Computational Fluid Dynamics (commercial codes CFX and other LES CFD knowledge desirable).
Experience with commercial software (FLUENT, CFX), software developed at Universities or in-house code development
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment and accountability/ownership of assigned tasks
High commitment and Passion for working on Decarbonization and energy transition
Demonstrated ability to take up challenging assignments and deliver.
Passion to innovate and creative problem solving
Ability to do a State-of-the-Art Survey on Turbomachinery Aero-Thermal Technologies and awareness/engagement with leading research groups globally in the domain of Turbomachinery Technologies and synthesis the findings.
Desired Characteristics
- Product knowledge of Gas Turbines
- Experimental knowledge of combustion, aerodynamics, heat transfer
- Advanced computational or experimental skills from "start-to-finish" to provide physics-based insights
- Ability to code, write scripts for automation
- Awareness of High Performance Computing Algorithms and supporting hardware.
- Awareness of experiments on turbomachinery aero and validation of computations models from experimental data
