Job Description Summary

The O&M Manager is responsible for managing the operations and maintenance activities of the Owner's generating assets, ensuring adequate and reliable equipment and units are available to meet generation requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner. The O&M Manager reports to the Plant Manager.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

As the O&M Manager, you will:

  • Maintain care, custody, control and safe operation and maintenance of a 520 MW simple cycle power plant
  • Provide strong leadership and coaching for approximately 7 site personnel
  • Supervise regulatory compliance for NERC, environmental, health, and safety requirements
  • Assist in annual budget preparation for owner and effectively manage plant expenditures
  • Control all operational documents as outlined on the site Master List of Controlled Documents.
  • Follow operational objectives consistent with achieving maximum plant efficiency to meet customer requirements in the most safe, reliable, economical and environmentally safe manner.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and revise operating procedures to ensure plant equipment is operated in a safe, compliant manner that enhances reliability.
  • Develop and implement training and personnel resource plans to ensure adequate operational resources to satisfy plant needs.
  • Identify and diagnose equipment and system operating failures and abnormal conditions. Identify and initiate corrective actions as appropriate with the assistance of other staff members.
  • Be responsible for the development and recording of operations data. Develop the Weekly and Monthly Facility Reports and forwards the reports to the Plant Manager for review and distribution.
  • Maintain availability 24 hours per day on-call basis with backup from the Plant Manager, or designee.
  • Participate in outage planning and execution to ensure the safety of personnel and on-time completion of the workscope. Plan, track, and document work completion.
  • Facilitate and coordinate proactive risk assessment and root-cause analysis of equipment failures and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Develop and implement process improvements utilizing Management of Change procedures.
  • Recruit, interview and actively participate in the selection of operation staff. Assure proper staffing, scheduling and training of the operations staff.
  • Maintain consistent communications with the Plant Manager, EHS Manager, and NERC Manager.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field from an accredited university or college (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 6 years of power plant experience).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with increasing levels of responsibility in plant Operations and Maintenance.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with large frame Gas Turbines

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Ability and willingness to submit to a physical, respirator and hearing screening upon hire
  • Ability and willingness to use personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, latex / rubber / leather gloves, safety shoes and respirator) as needed

Desired Characteristics:

  • Operations and Maintenance experience in both Simple Cycle and Combined Cycle plants
  • Operations and Maintenance experience with GE 7FA Gas Turbines
  • Extensive knowledge of NERC, environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations
  • Highly organized and adaptable to change with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledgeable with Gas Turbine Control Systems, IT and I&E systems

About Us

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $91,400-$152,300 USD Annual.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a Variable Incentive (VIC) Bonus of 10%.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
