GE Vernova Hydro is looking for a Hydro-Mechanical engineer within GE Vernova Hydro Engineering in charge - for new power plant projects or renovations - of the design of gates and their control devices.

He/she will be involved throughout the project life cycle, from the bidding phase to the equipment commissioning phase.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design Hydro-Mechanical equipment, in accordance with contractual requirements, international standards (ISO, NBR 8883, ASTM, EN) as well as GE Vernova Hydro's internal design rules
  • Represent engineering within the project team for the Hydro-Mechanical scope, being responsible for the quality of the deliverables, compliance with the planning and the study budget
  • Managing the entire design cycle: from concept to detail plans
  • Perform analytical calculations or finite element structure calculations of the various subsystems composing Hydro-Mechanical equipment and organize design reviews with experts
  • Coordinate internal or external designers/designers in charge of CAD and drawing
  • Establish technical purchasing specifications for outsourced sub-assemblies
  • Support the teams in charge of manufacturing, installation and commissioning

Required Qualification:

  • With an Engineer background you have significant experience in the mechanical design of large metal structures.
  • Portuguese and English proficiency
  • Significant experience in structural calculations (analytical and FEA)
  • Experience in designing Electro-Mechanical or Oil-Hydraulic control devices is a plus.
  • Knowledge about Hydro-Mechanical equipment and structural design standards (Eurocode) and Hydro-Mechanical equipment (DIN-19704) is a plus.
  • Ability to work as a team on complex projects with multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Oral and written French is a nice to have
