Role Summary
As a Marine Defence Service Account Manager, reporting directly to the Head of the Department, you will play a key role in managing one of our most critical naval client's accounts. This role requires a proactive and customer centric approach to post-design services, encompassing long term service agreements, system upgrades, modifications, obsolescence management and ad hoc defect resolution, all aimed at increasing the operational capability and availability of the fleets. You will serve as a single point of contact for the client, accurately navigating complex interactions to build robust relationships and ensure their needs are met with precision and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Customer Advocacy: Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer advocating for their needs and achieving excellence in service delivery.
- Post-Design Services: Manage post-design support activities, such as long-term service support agreements, system upgrades, obsolescence management and service visits.
- Project Management: Manage and oversee modification, conversion, and upgrade projects from initial design to embodiment. Utilize SAP and project management tools to track progress, manage costs, and mitigate risks.
- Commercial & Technical Management: Lead on all technical, quality, and commercial matters related to multiple contractual agreements, ensuring adherence to procedures, standards and contractual obligations.
- Contractual Oversight: Register, compile, and negotiate contract extensions, variations, and claims, while ensuring that both the customer's and the company's interests are safeguarded.
- Business Development: Drive orders growth by identifying new business opportunities within the naval service customer base.
- Operational Planning: Create and maintain project plans, ensuring all milestones and deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.
Essential Requirements
- Customer Service Expertise: Strong background in managing customer relationships, with a focus on expedient service delivery and problem resolution.
- Project Management Skills: Experience in managing multiple projects, tracking progress, and ensuring alignment with both client and internal goals.
- Commercial & Financial Knowledge: Solid understanding of commercial procedures, including invoicing, revenue recognition, and contract management.
- Leadership & Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with senior internal and external stakeholders and represent the company in high-level discussions.
- Multi-tasking & Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and ensure timely project execution.
- Business Growth Orientation: A drive to identify and capitalize on business development opportunities within a highly competitive environment.
- Adaptability: Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing project demands and customer requirements.
- Collaboration and Team Leadership: Experience of working with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and efficient collaboration among various departments, including engineering, procurement, logistics and legal.
- Travel-Ready: Valid passport and driver's license to accommodate domestic and potential international travel.
- Security Clearance: Possession or eligibility to obtain security clearance (SC).
- Experience: experience in a similar role.
- Education: HND in business or related studies or engineering.
Desired Characteristics
- Defense Industry Experience: Previous experience in the defence sector, particularly related to naval operations and services is advantageous for understanding the unique challenges and requirements of the role.
- Engineering Skills: A strong technical background, ideally with experience in marine systems, post-design support, and install base upgrades or modifications. An understanding of naval defence technologies and their operational applications.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in the relevant field of study from reputable university
