The Lead Test Engineer is responsible for development, implementation, setup and operation of state of the art dynamics data acquisition systems and instrumentation to measure dynamics pressures, static and dynamic strain, vibration, etc. for the Gas Turbine Technology Lab.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Thorough knowledge of instrumentation to measure temperature, pressure, flow, static and dynamic strain, dynamic pressure, vibration and accelerometers, etc, digital signal processing and computerized A/D data acquisition systems.
  • Understand, setup and operate dynamic data measurement systems and instrumentation including digital signal processing. This includes understanding concepts in vibration and using digital signaling processing tools such as FFT, Campbell Diagrams, Spectral Maps, Waterfall diagram, Order Tracking, Power Spectral Density for real time and post test data analysis.
  • Experience using multi-meters, waveform generators and oscilloscopes.
  • Customize on-line engineering analysis and calculation programs and data displays as needed.
  • Provide data reduction, analysis and processing of raw engineering test data including dynamic data both in real time and/or posttest. Dynamic data analysis can be in time and/or frequency domain using well-established software tools and/or new tools as needed.
  • Root cause analysis of instrumentation and software issues, to include ISO out of tolerance reports and quality alerts.
  • Manage projects related to data acquisition system development, implementation and operation and develop and maintain documentation.
  • Work with test and design engineers to plan and develop data systems to execute CDT COE customer tests and support engineering tests in house.
  • Ability to support a flexible test schedule in a dynamic environment.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering OR a high school diploma/ GED with 9 years of turbomachinery testing experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working with test data instrumentation, calibration and data acquisition systems, including development, design and operation.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be able to work 100% onsite in Greenville, SC
  • Relocation assistance only considered from within the USA.
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

What will make you stand out

  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • Excellent project management skills with technical writing and documentation control mindset.
  • Understand concepts in computer networking and data management.
  • Knowledgeable in programming languages including C / C# / LabVIEW / Web programming and Microsoft .NET environment and their uses in data acquisition and data analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, computer networks and data transmission and data base management.
  • Excellent strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with all levels of organization.
  • Boundary less thinker with the ability to manage multiple priorities and disciplines.
  • Product knowledge of GE gas turbines, generators, Steam Turbines, and Aeroderivative units.

The base pay range for this position is $98,400.00 - $164,000.00 USD per year.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.

This position will stay open on the career website until at least 4/16/2025.
