Job Description Summary

The Lead Project Buyer will support to drive the execution of mechanical commodity purchase orders with suppliers. The role will entail close alignment with Engineering and Quality functions, as well as other key stakeholders, and will be focusing on electrical Direct materials. You'll manage dynamic priorities, necessitating minimal guidance, and emphasize effective communication with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and suppliers.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Managing Request for Quotation (RFQ) and executing the follow-up activities of the purchase orders (POs)
  • Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with Suppliers both for RFQ and PO execution processes.
  • Ensuring all functional processes are compliant and effective.
  • Ensuring high levels of supplier performance by managing safety, quality, cost, and delivery, while also championing continuous improvement for the department.
  • Identify risks to supply continuity and take proactive measures to minimize the impact on the project schedule.
  • Utilizing the company's ERP system (SAP) to ensure the team effectively manage parts availability in alignment with scheduled demand, addressing the impact of any schedule changes.
  • Demonstrating problem-solving skills to identify root causes and prevent the recurrence of supply-related issues.
  • Utilizing technical experience in assessing supplier capability and capacity in manufacturing and supply
  • Ensures smooth supplier payment activities.
  • Collaborates with Engineering and other stake holders to ensure Quality and On Time Delivery.
  • Lead discussions with suppliers during execution in case of claims, PO changes in coordination with the Project Management.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a similar technical discipline from a reputable university.
  • Language: Fluency in English language.
  • Experience: Significant experience in a fast-paced Engineering, Sourcing, Supply Chain roles, focusing on mechanical commodities such as pipes, fittings, fasteners, hydraulic & pneumatic systems and components.
  • Skills: Excellent time management and coordination skills, rapid responsiveness, ability to work autonomously, strong communication and influencing skills.

Desired Characteristics,

  • Solid Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet and other office software skills.
  • Familiarity in MV-HV Energy / Hydro Power BoP Mechanical Commodities.
  • Master's Degree in Supply Chain Management or in a similar discipline from a reputable university
  • French or German language is a plus
  • Aptitude to work in a global environment and matrix organization
  • Broad experience with MRP systems (SAP)
  • An accomplished relationship-builder and energetic, forward-thinking individual.
  • Excellent attention to detail. Pro-active and problem-solving attitude
  • Commercial awareness (Pay Terms, Warranty, LD's)
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions at all levels.
  • Flexible with travel worldwide as needed.
