Job Description
Lead Patch Management Engineer - HVDC digital control system comprises of various IEDs, network switches, firewalls, workstations, and servers. Application software/firmware running on these devices needs to be updated regularly or on need basis, due to functional changes or cyber security vulnerability updates. These software changes are rolled out on to these devices as patches.
Functional / Cyber security software patches include:
- MATLAB/Simulink® HVDC control/protection software patches
- VxWorks, TI-DSP, Xilinx, Altera, ARM, Freescale, Intel-Xeon, UEFI-BIOS firmware patches
- Java, Spring boot, Angular, Node, React, Micro service architecture components
- Device firmware (Network switches, IEDs, Firewall, PLCs)
- Windows/Linux based workstation/Servers

Roles and Responsibilities
- Working with internal development teams to identify the functional & cyber security patches.
- Coordinating with various suppliers/vendors to identify patches related to devices, workstations, servers, and third-party software component libraries.
- Regular monitoring of CVE database for supplier software components (OS, RTOS, third party libraries/device drivers) and addressing the vulnerabilities with applicable patches.
- Deploying the ISO 27001 and IEC- 62443 patch management process.
- Planning/release management of patch releases.
- Scheduling the roll out of patches on various projects
- Ownership of end-to-end patch management process including continuous improvement based on the feedback.
- Ownership of asset inventory list for HVDC control systems
- Prepare formal and informal documentation related to patch management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in, Compute science related Technology or Engineering
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience software development /maintenance/cyber security patch management
- In-depth knowledge of Industrial automation cyber security practices and procedures
- Hands on experience in following/implementing the ISO 27001 and IEC- 62443 patch management process.
- IEC 61850 standards awareness, working experience with IEC 61850 multi-vendor devices.
- Experience with Substation Automation communication protocols.
- Strong can-do attitude and energy level
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Exposure to Embedded C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink,
- Exposure to working with IEDs, network/security devices.
- Familiarity with modern cybersecurity constructs (e.g., Static Analysis, OSS scans, Digital Signatures etc.)
- Demonstrated experience and track record of success in working with global engineering teams.
- Project management with agile development practices (e.g., Scrum)
- Knowledge of HVDC
