The Role - Lead Mechanical Engineer
As Lead Mechanical Engineer the individual will supervise and manage a team of engineers/technicians and/or subcontractors for the installation, pre-commissioning, and maintenance of HVDC Valve Solutions.
GE Vernova HVDC projects are worldwide and as per the role, the candidate will travel to customer sites on a regular basis.
The individual will coordinate valve site activities and will report to the HVDC office on progress and results. The role demands excellent coordination and communication skills and close attention to detail.
The candidate will report to the Valve Site Team Leader.

Responsibilities:
- Lead/Supervise team of field engineers/technicians in the field and carry out assembly, repair and maintenance, pre-commissioning work on-site at our customers' sites, or in our workshops/test facilities globally.
- Lead mechanical work and electrical testing work done on site.
- Participate in the work of updating technical documentation related to the site activities.
- Support to engineering teams with 3D CAD tools like Creo when required
- Plan for the projects and prepare the works (tools & equipment, spare parts, documentation).
- Report on the progress of work. (Daily reporting, Smartsheet management, progress charts and documentation)
- Write test reports performed at site during installation, pre-com and maintenance.
- Carry out quality monitoring and traceability of works (NCR's, reports, Quality plans, etc).
- Perform all the administrative tasks related to the position and to the various missions entrusted to the role (Close out reporting, lessons learnt etc).
- Ensure the security and strengthen the EHS culture of all stakeholders under their responsibility in accordance with the GE lifesaving principles and GE EHS policies.
- Report all dangerous situations for yourself, others, or the environment.
- Participate in the Valve Risk Register to escalate high risks to project team.
- Participate in the review of planned hours, Cost-To-Completion hours vs Budgeted hours.
- Adhere to the Valve Engineering SIPOC and delivery processes.
- Accountability on the On-Time-Delivery and say-do ratio KPIs for the project.
- Lead Non-Conformities in relation to valve site activities, with action plan in place and accountability to close them.
Qualifications
The candidate requires mechanical/electrical engineering expertise at graduate level or equivalent experience, with a good level of the technical understanding of general electrical engineering.
The candidate will typically be educated to degree-level, or above, in a discipline such as engineering or science.
Significant experience in mechanical/electrical (installation & maintenance field) and team supervision preferably experienced in working in Live HV environments.
Good strong knowledge of Environmental health and safety regulations.
Willing and able to frequently travel globally (including off shore / sea platforms) for extended periods of time, often at short notice.
Skills and Competencies:

- Ability to document, plan, and execute programs
- Experience in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

- Having raised or managed Non-Conformance issues
- Involved in continuous improvement activities
- Capable of swimming (requirement for off-shore platform work)
