Job Description Summary

The Lead Tool Design Engineer will be a part of the Tooling team within Engineering department, he/she is responsible for technical studies and design of tools for transportation and erection of main components constituting a hydropower plant (embedded parts, turbine, generator, valves and hydromechanical).
He/She will be specifically in charge of project execution for projects in various countries.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • For a given project in execution, he/she will perform the calculation and the design of the tools according to the CoE's Design Practices and with the validation of the tooling principal engineer
  • Represent the Tooling Center of Excellence (CoE) in front of the Project Team: System Integrator, CoE main project engineers, Supply Chain, Quality and Construction & Commissioning
  • Manage the calculation and design of the full list of tools identified during synopsis phase (detailed transportation & erection sequence of the power plant) - fulfilling planning, cost and safety requirement

Required Qualifications

  • Master/Bachelor degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have a good command on analytical calculations and material selection with good knowledge of different standards - ASME, EN, IS etc.
  • Significant experience (>5 years) in mechanical design of hydro mechanical parts
  • Experience in design of lifting equipment and access platform or significant experience on site
  • Good knowledge of 3D CAD software preferably NX and PLM system
  • Excellent communication skills to deal with global team
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional and global teams
  • Strong interpersonal & design conceptualization skills, proven leadership skills and a result-oriented approach
