Job Description Summary

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, develop and deliver a complete marine automation solution that includes system architecture, specifications, data sheet, application software, testing and commissioning; ensuring the project meets customer, contract and regulatory requirements. The candidate will also have opportunity to work on microgrids which includes requirement gathering, architecture definition, specifications, application software, testing, validation, and deployment; ensuring the project meets customer, contract and regulatory requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and test a complete automation project for Marine, O&G and Industry.
  • Solid experience on working in automation and control or a similar technical discipline.
  • Produce design, configuration and test documentation related to automation systems.
  • Study the cybersecurity constraints of the customer specifications and build architectures that meet the needs.
  • Participate in technical meetings with customers, classification societies and suppliers.
  • Configure the equipment (PC, switch, firewall, PLCs and supervision stations) for the various projects.
  • Capable to work on marine power & propulsion with remote control systems, drilling automation and drive systems.
  • Carry out the tests on the automation systems for validation / acceptance with the Customer and the certification bodies.
  • When necessary, carry out a detailed field survey to assess the interfaces between the new and existing system.
  • Perform requirement gathering based on internal specifications, customer specifications and knowledge of product application.
  • Lead the design and modelling of AC/DC/hybrid microgrid systems, including generation, PV solar, storage, and load systems.
  • Develop electrical single-line diagrams, control architectures and protection schemes.
  • Develop and implement primary, secondary, and tertiary control strategies for microgrid operation.
  • Oversee the integration of DERs and ensure seamless islanding and grid-connected operations based on IEEE Std. 1547™-2018 and IEEE Std. 2030.7.2017.
  • Integrate forecasting algorithms and optimize energy usage and system performance through advanced analytics and algorithms.
  • Configure and manage controllers across various communication protocols like MODBUS RTU/TCP-IP.
  • Conduct simulations and hardware-in-loop testing to validate system designs.
  • Study the cybersecurity constraints of the customer specifications and build architectures that meet the needs.
  • Experienced in different phases of Software Development Life cycle (SDLC) including Design, Implementation and Testing during the development of software applications.
  • Create procedures and run tests on the automation system.
  • Review and approve engineering designs.
  • Run bench tests and write concise reports.
  • Provide technical training to customers and employees when required.
  • Write technical notes for correcting products and systems.
  • Support ITO for marine opportunities.
  • Support commissioning (Off/Onsite) for automation projects.
  • Carry out the tasks within the agreed time and cost.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in electrical and electronics engineering from reputed institute.
  • Fluency in English to join an international project team.
  • MS Visual Studio, MS Office, MS Visio, MATLAB, PSCAD
  • Experience in P80i, PCVue, Iconics, Ix developer (Beijer), and VMware will be added advantage.

Experience

  • Marine & Industrial automation projects (minimum 5-6 years)
    • Development of supervision systems from different manufacturers.
    • Database development for the application
    • PLC programming for industrial / Marine projects; ladder diagram, blocks and structured text.
    • Configuration of manageable switches / network management for industrial projects.
    • Systems virtualization
  • 4-5 years' experience specific to Microgrids design and development will be added advantage.
  • Experience in Microgrid components (DERs, loads etc.) and Microgrid control systems with understanding of IEEE Std 1547™-2018 and IEEE2030.7.2017
  • Industrial automation protocols such as Modbus, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ProfiNet, etc.
  • Proven experience in DER integration, control systems and energy management.
  • Knowledge of grid interconnection standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses.
