Job Description Summary

The Lead Engineer - Product Definition will be responsible for delivering customer deliverables in the form of 2D packages, including, but not limited to, schematics, device summaries, and connection lists for GT and other product lines in accordance with applicable GE and industry standards (such as ASME, ASTM, API, AWS, DIN etc.).
In this position, the individual will work in close coordination with the CCP and Project Engineering Organizations. In addition to working on all key team priorities, the Lead Engineer in Product Definition will primarily be responsible for and taking ownership of schematic tasks in any given project, both in the ITO (Inquiry to Order) and OTR (Order to Remittance) stages of above said disciplines. The individual is expected to support the Technical Team Leader who is the Single Point of Contact (SPoC) from CMPD for 2D Packages and will coordinate with Engineering Centers of Excellence (CoEs), the Project Engineering Organization & Contractor team while delivering on internal as well as external (customer submittal) tasks. They shall also assist in managing project risks and expediting issue resolution, especially during site support requests and fast-track projects. The selected individual will also be responsible for delivering best-in-class customer outcomes by developing strong working relationships with different engineering functions, the global CTH (Controlled Title Holder) community, HDPE (Heavy Duty Plant Engineering), Commercial/Sales, FieldCore, Sourcing, and Quality teams.

Job Description

  • Serve as the PDE lead for the accessories team, collaborating with CCP and Project Engineering to meet all project requirements and deadlines related to 2D deliverables (schematics, device summaries). Facilitate changes and ensure that accessories work is completed while adhering to key SQDC KPIs.
  • Support Technical Team Leader for the processes, methods, and content of the Product Definition team's deliverables related to Schematic.
  • Support harmonization of processes and methods across the global PDE and interfacing teams. Support creation and improvement standard works for creation of schematics, device summary, connection list and other related drawings.
  • Work with a holistic approach to address the tools and processes required for executing customer drawings, including supporting global strategic initiatives.
  • Promote 2D AVEVA collaboration and identify extended improvement opportunities in services and plant teams.
  • For Schematics, utilize Lean practices, standard work, daily management and continuous improvement initiatives globally, and implement them consistently in ongoing projects.
  • Act as a PDE Point of Contact (SPOC) for interfacing organizations, ensuring that deliverables meet industry standards in terms of quality and content.
  • Possess proficiency in International Codes & Standards (ASME, ASTM, API, AWS, DIN, etc.).
  • Create and maintain standard templates in AVEVA for various product lines within GE VERNOVA. Maintain Reference plant while collaborating with CCP organization.
  • Coordinate and review Contractors work to ensure quality output while maintaining On time Delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) / Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) / Bachelor of Science (BS) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Should have 5+ years of relevant experience in creating schematics, preferably in the Power and Oil & Gas industries.
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards is a must, including ASME, ASTM, API, AWS, DIN, etc.
  • Expertise in the Aveva Platform (Diagrams, Engineering & 3D Modelling), Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, and PLM is a must.
  • Strong knowledge of the power plant identification system (KKS Tagging).
  • Highly skilled in problem-solving and issue resolution, with the ability to work across functions to arrive at the most optimal and quick resolution to customer issues.

  • Basic understanding of gas turbine, steam turbine and generator systems.
