We are seeking a Lead Engineer - Electrical Component Sr. Electrical Designer to join our team at the Global Engineering Center. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the design and development of power transformers & Shunt Reactors, with a strong background in electrical design, internal connections, and layouts. The role involves working on cutting-edge transformer designs, ensuring adherence to international standards, and applying advanced analysis tools for failure detection and electromagnetic design optimization.

  • Understanding magnetic fields, flux, permeability, and losses (hysteresis and eddy current).
  • AC/DC theory, impedance, reactance, and resonance.
  • Design and optimize internal electrical connections and layouts to ensure maximum operational efficiency and safety of power transformers.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards such as ISO, IEC, IEEE, and other relevant guidelines in transformer design and manufacturing processes.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of electromagnetics to improve transformer performance and optimize design characteristics.
  • Conduct and contribute to DFMEA assessments to identify potential design risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Utilize failure analysis techniques like Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 8D, 5Why & fishbone to investigate and address transformer failures or underperformance.
  • Apply FEA tools, such as ANSYS, to simulate and evaluate electromagnetic fields, thermal behavior, and mechanical stresses in transformer designs.
  • Work closely with engineering teams, production units, and external stakeholders to refine and improve transformer designs.
  • Maintain thorough design documentation, including specifications, test reports, and compliance records.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:
bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 15+ years of experience in electrical design, specifically in power transformer design or related areas.

Technical Expertise:

In-depth understanding of power transformer electrical design, internal connections, and layouts.

Strong knowledge of international standards (ISO, IEC, IEEE, etc.).

Proficiency with Lean concept i.e. Kaizans, 5S, problem solving tools etc.

Expertise in electromagnetics and its application in transformer design.

Proficiency in failure analysis techniques, particularly Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Experience with DFMEA and other risk management techniques in electrical design.

Familiarity with international & national EHS norms.

Tools Proficiency:

Familiarity with FEA tools, e.g. ANSYS (Maxwell), for transformer design simulations.

Proficiency in relevant design tools and software.

Language Skills:

Fluency in English is a must.

Knowledge of additional languages such as German or Turkish would be a significant advantage.

Travel Requirement:
Occasional travel to project sites and partner organizations for design reviews.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex designs and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
