Job Description Summary

Blade Repair Engineers support a global team responsible for providing support to our customers and technical field teams in day to day blade wind turbine blade repair. They also provide learnings and feedback to ongoing root cause investigations and New Product/Technology Introduction specific to blade repairs.

The job will include:
• Evaluation of operational risk of severely damaged blades
• Developing specific repair solutions
• Technical support to field related root cause investigations and quality improvement projects
• Input to, and review of field solutions and related instructions with a focus on safety, quality, and cycle time
• Implementation of field solutions and methods, including training of internal and external blade technicians

As a Blade Repair Engineer, you will play an important role in our effort to develop, implement and support our larger wind services strategy related to blade health management. We strive as a team to find and operationalize cutting edge technology along with common sense problem solving to best serve our larger wind team and customer base.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop repair plans for wind turbine blades in accordance with drawings and technical specifications
  • Provide support via technical escalation during wind turbine blade repairs
  • Approve wind turbine blade repairs per internal quality requirements
  • Develop and update repair procedures
  • Train and certify GE and third party technicians
  • Support new repair and tooling technologies through validation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in composite engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • Understanding of wind turbine operations and maintenance
  • Written and Oral communication skills in English
  • Technical writing capability specific to the generation and upkeep of procedures
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Ability and willingness to climb wind turbines and work at heights
  • Field Experience directly performing wind turbine blade repairs or supervising them
  • Repair or quality certification experience in wind turbine blade manufacturing
  • Group problem solving and collaboration skills
  • Attention to detail with a high standard of quality
  • Knowledge of lifting, rigging and tooling and associated health and safety requirements
