In this role, you will be responsible for the design, testing, start-up and commissioning of the protection and control aspects of fixed series capacitors(FSC), static VAR compensation(SVC) and synchronous condenser solutions within GE's Flexible AC Transmission Systems(FACTS) portfolio.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead development of custom protection and control solutions, including specifications, layouts, schematics, logic diagrams, programming, wiring, grounding, and other required custom control hardware, for custom FACTS solutions.
  • Lead composition of protection and control equipment specifications, issue material purchase request forms, and evaluate vendor quotations for FACTS equipment including protection and control systems
  • Be the lead contact liaison for technical issues for the customer and project manager
  • Lead the development and execution of start-up, testing and commissioning plans
  • Coordinate with sourcing and project team members on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control and schedule objectives
  • Interface with internal and external team members such as principal engineers, control engineers, civil engineers, electrical designers, project managers, engineering leaders and support organizations
  • Lead the development of the controls scope for proposals, including writing and/or reviewing technical specifications, estimating design man-hours and materials, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, directing designers and draftsmen on drawing requirements, and the development of clarifications and exceptions as well as technical responses
  • Lead the development and execute cost reduction programs that vary in scope and may include low-cost vendor selection, design improvements, process improvements, automation, and new product introduction
  • Lead the performance of RCA's (root cause analysis) and execution corrective actions
  • Support project quality procedures and initiatives including aspects of ISO9001

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 5 year of related engineering experience (OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience)
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% as required, which may include remote locations and international travel, and be willing to comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in automation controller programming
  • Experience specifying, configuring and programming Mk6e control systems for power plat applications
  • Experience specifying, configuring and programming Ex2100e exciters for power plant applications
  • Experience in microprocessor control hardware, firmware, architecture
  • Knowledge of and experience using IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards and codes, and ability to engineer design packages when no clear customer specification is provided
  • Experience in installation, field-testing and commissioning of HV equipment, including required safe work habits
  • Demonstrated electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capability
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to lead a team and be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high quality product on time and under budget
  • Ability to develop and implement standards and structured programs
  • Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word, AutoCAD, and Microstation

The salary range for this position is 85,600.00 - 114,100.00 - 142,600.00 USD Annual . The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
