The Insurance Risk Manager will provide insurance risk management leadership to the teams within the Commercial Organization, while also supporting the Execution and Services teams. Reporting to the Sales and Operations Risk Manager, Onshore Wind International, this role encompasses global coverage.
Job Description
As the subject matter expert, the Insurance Risk Manager will deliver solutions to drive business growth.
Key responsibilities for the assigned business units include:
- Mitigating risk exposure by identifying risk profiles from insurance obligations and/or contractual injury/damage exposure in contracts for the supply of equipment and contracts for the provision of maintenance services.
- Collaborating with commercial teams to negotiate appropriate risk allocation with counterparties (customers, subcontractors/suppliers).
- Supporting the execution and services teams in the interpretation of insurance coverage, while these teams will lead the insurance recovery activities from 3rd party insurers.
- Ensuring contract obligations are compliant with GE's insurance programs.
- Developing tools and training for commercial teams to maintain knowledge of risk and insurance-related matters.
- Advising Fleet Engineering on Product and Loss Event communications with internal/external insurers and supporting corporate insurance with underwriters on matters related to product and project insurability.
- Assist the Product organization with insurance-related considerations for New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Organizing webinars and roadshows with external insurers, alongside Product Line Leaders, to discuss product improvements for our technologies.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Master's Degree from accredited college or university or equivalent experience / knowledge
- Extensive experience in underwriting, risk management, brokerage, or related field
- In-depth experience with all- risk property, construction, marine, and liability insurance coverage including industry standards, practices, and resources
- Significant experience in the energy sector
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to excel in non-co-located, international environment, interacting with multiple internal functions (commercial, project management, legal, finance, etc.) as well as external customers, insurers, brokers, etc.
- Ability to travel average once per quarter
Desired Characteristics
- Professional designations, including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), ARM
- Practical experience in the Wind sector
- Practical experience in analyzing and negotiating allocating of risk in contracts
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills
- Hands on experience in pursuing insurance recoveries and resolving conflicts
- Hands on experience in educating the market on new technologies and facilitating insurance support for New Product Introductions (NPI)
- Fluency in Spanish, German, French
- Resourceful, collaborative, and pragmatic mindset
