Job Description Summary

The Human Factors Engineering (HFE) Technical Leader is responsible for integrating and developing HFE technologies, methodologies, tools, and supporting processes that meet the HFE needs regarding nuclear plant interfaces designed to accommodate human characteristics, capabilities, and limitations to produce human error prevention and mitigation, as well as human performance optimization for operations, maintenance, inspection and test activities for advanced nuclear reactors. The Technical Leader role requires clarifying technical scope, work planning and oversight, technical problem solving and communication and collaboration with other teams within GEH business functions as well as external customers.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Assist and provide support to the functional manager to plan, assign, and manage resources for the HFE team to address the technical work scope requested and advancing risk-informed decisions.

Provide leadership for assigned organizational responsibilities, programs, and personnel, including team collaboration, work processes, infrastructure, and technical oversight.

Establish and maintain relationships with teams and commercial leaders within the business to understand upcoming related work demands and provide inputs on team capability and availability.

Communicate and collaborate with project managers and commercial program managers to provide work planning, develop and maintain robust schedules, and provide technical support for customer deliverables.

Communicate and collaborate with engineering leaders to assure compliance to procedures, standards, and regulatory criteria.

Implement initiatives to continuously improve the responsiveness to customer and business needs.

Basic Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent 4-year degree in a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 12 years of human factors experience in a high-hazard, safety-centric industry (e.g., energy, aviation, medical, automotive), with at least 5 of those years in the nuclear industry.

Desired Qualifications include:

  • M.S. or PhD Degree in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the United States or Canada.
  • Experience in nuclear plant emergency procedures, operator training guidelines, and regulatory site implementation and reviews is highly desirable.
