Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

Demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives in Gas Turbine instrumentation, electrical engineered systems, Control System Integration, Hazardous area compliance and interconnect/cabling throughout the CCGT plant across requisitions and New Product Introduction. Integrates and develops processes that meet business needs across the organization. Involved in long-term planning. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within HD Services ITR Design Engineering.

  • Drive Technical rigor to develop safe, high-quality products for the Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine Services business.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) ITR Design Engineering team.
  • Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet near term and long-term Gas Turbine E&I needs.
  • Provide technical consultation for E&I product offerings during the design review process. Lead technical risk reviews and identify mitigation strategies for E&I scope for successful project execution.
  • Lead and provide technical direction to large projects with critical business impact. Drive a curiosity mindset by striving for improved products and processes.
  • Maintain an active role in developing and defining state of the art in Gas Turbine E&I packages. Drive engineering rigor in the development and implementation of products focused on the following: quality, performance, cost reduction (margin expansion) to meet current and future business needs.
  • Support other GE Vernova businesses, internal & external customers, and suppliers as required.
  • Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues.
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE Vernova customers using reports, records, and letters.
  • Use knowledge and expertise to market winning proposals in anticipation of business product needs.
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.
  • Provide technical guidance, direction, mentoring, and training to new and experienced engineers, specialists, technicians, and co-ops.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience in an engineering capacity
  • Proven experience supporting the Gas Power Services business in an Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering Capacity.

  • Ability to travel globally as needed.

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is 127,900-213,100 USD Annual.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This Lead Professional Band position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. This position will stay open on the career website until at least Jan 25th, 2025.
