As Hardware Design Engineer, you will be a part of "LV, Control and Automation" team, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. You will be a part of a highly motivated and dynamic team of engineers working on the requirements, design, integration, installation, and commissioning Control and Protection Systems for HVDC.
The role gives an excellent opportunity to motivated engineers to expand their design engineering skills and personal development within an international project organisation delivering complex HVDC projects.
Activities covered, among others:
• Technical specifications (control panels, HV protection panels, ...)
• Mechanical panel design (front views, general arrangement...)
• Electrical Panel design (schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams...)
• Design software configuration and support (EBase)
• Inquiries & procurement support
• Manufacturer follow up & support
• Panels Factory Acceptance Test attendance
Job Description
As Hardware Design Engineer, you will be leading the hardware design activities for the LV Secondary that include HV Protection Panels, Control Panels & Marshalling Kiosks. You will be responsible to deliver on time and within the defined budgets the Documentation related to those panels.
This includes the following activities:
- Control & Protection Panel Basic Design activities like:
- Define and maintain scope for your project based on customer requirements.
- Technical specifications of Panels
- LV materials Technical Specification (terminal block selection, relays selection...)
- Panels Front Views & General Arrangement
- Panels documentation listing & content definition
- Represent LV Secondary team for Design Requirements during the customer meetings and with GE partners.
- Prepare subcontracting activities for the Detail Design of Control & Protection Panels:
- Prepare subcontracting technical dossier: deliverable list (schematics, etc...)
- Selection and follow up of the Subcontractor
- Review of deliverables prepared by the Subcontractor:
- Panels schematic diagrams
- Panels Front Views & General Arrangement updates
- Panels Internal Arrangement
- Wiring Diagrams
- Bill of Materials
- Prepare the CAD software (Engineering Base) for Panels Design activities:
- Prepare Engineering Base structure for GEV & Subcontractors
- Support across all projects as Engineering Base Expert
- Act as a single point of contact for all third party management for Drawings / Packages and supervise the work they are doing in the common Database.
- Define and prepare global Engineering Base Strategy within LV Secondary team and follow its implementation.
- Standardization & Return of experience:
- Support department Continuous Improvement activities for standardisation of drawings , and maintain the E Base Reference Database updated (Stencils, Catalogs, Dictionaries...).
- Develop & maintain Panels Standard Design
- Actively share and learn good practices and lessons learned to implement in the project for better project execution.
- Follow the departments standard design practices, engineering reviews and guidelines
- Adhere to the GE HVDC operation rhythm.
- Travel as needed to attend customer meeting, witness type testing in presence of customer.
- Interface with equipment supplier and reviewing in-house designs and those produced by external contractors and analyse a variety of engineering data, documents, and reports.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Electronics/Electrical engineering or related field.
- Experience in Control and protection Panel design (preferably as used in HVDC/substation/power plant environments).
- ability to work in an international environment and interface between different teams.
- Expert level competency - Engineering Base & Autocad
- Experience in Certification (CE) Marking
- Lean, Continuous Improvement and one team mindset
- Availability to travel ~10% of time
- Languages: English is required
Desired Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of HVDC systems
- Experience in developing electrical designs for industrial control systems preferably in substation/power plant environment.
