This role will have global focus and require demonstrated leadership experience for teams and project based across the UK (Stafford), USA, India and Germany.

The successful candidate will be based from our Stafford Centre of Excellence, responsible for leading activities and department / team development across Systems engineering: Design Principles (Mechanical and Electrical design), Valve Testing, R&D, manufacturing and On-shore / Off-shore site works.

This role executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Management of a global team of engineers involved in the design, fabrication, testing and erection at sites (Onshore and Offshore platforms).
  • Responsible for developing specialized knowledge in the relevant team's discipline.
  • Ensuring training and licences are up to date, especially for site intervention teams.
  • Serves as best practice / quality resource.
  • Has awareness of latest technical developments in the HVDC converters space.
  • Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve complex tasks or problems in areas of operational / product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
  • Takes new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
  • Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus.
  • Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • This role requires significant experience in the Engineering / Technology & Systems Engineering Management:
  • Converter Valves and Cooling System Valves Design (Mechanical & Electrical)
  • Inverters.
  • HVDC Projects.
  • FACTS.
  • Statcom.
  • Previous experience working with / for Valve suppliers.
  • Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a College certification with relevant and demonstrated experience).
  • Proven and demonstrated experience leading global team activities in the UK, and other countries such as: USA, India and Germany etc
  • Ensuring Licences and training are up to date for relevant team members especially within the On-shore and Off-shore service team.
  • The successful candidate will have prior experience and understands the importance of site activities
