The Performance Design and Methods team is a critical pillar within the Heavy Duty Plant Engineering organization and sits at the intersection of engineering, commercial and digital. Members of the team are responsible for defining and optimizing the thermodynamic performance capabilities for all GE Vernova heavy duty gas turbines. As a member of the team, your responsibilities will include building thermodynamic gas turbine cycle models, supporting product development and product application, leading product performance validation testing, and providing customer issue resolution.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in the energy transition, deliver thermodynamic cycle solutions that will define the next generation of gas turbine products in a rapidly changing industry
  • Define and conduct testing of equipment and/or entire systems, identifying the best testing strategy and measurement system. Report performance with respect to the guaranteed values in accordance with industry codes and standards. Participate in the research, design, development, and enhancement of technologies in the areas of performance and operability; this can include delivery of customer solutions that properly balance cost and benefit.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of key business drivers; use this understanding to accomplish own work.
  • Make decisions within a defined framework. Resolve issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consult more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. Must be comfortable explaining technical information to others.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum of 2 years of thermal system modeling or data analytics experience (academic, industry, or a combination thereof is acceptable)

This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's Degree / PhD in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years gas turbine thermodynamic performance or operability analysis experience
  • Experience developing software or engineering design aids utilizing any of the following: Fortran, Python, C#, C++, VB, PERL, or JAVA
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Demonstrated design creativity and problem-solving capability
  • Design of experiment and numerical optimization experience

For purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $79,400 - $119,000 USD Annual.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This Professional Band position is also eligible for a variable incentive bonus of 5%.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
