The Test Engineer is responsible for providing test capabilities including the application of instrumentation and the acquisition of engineering test data to support the Gas Turbine New Products Introduction Department, the Gas Turbine Engineering Department, and the other departments of in the development of new gas turbine products and resolution of Gas Power System's customer technical complaints. Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Test Engineer is responsible for the hardware modification process, ensuring correct instrumentation methodology is followed by Technicians and suppliers.
  • Assisting in the development and documentation of Hardware Modifications.
  • Operation of all instrumentation and data systems required to conduct gas turbine engineering development tests. This requires the knowledge and applicable experience with instrumentation used in the measurement of temperature, pressure, dynamic pressure, strain, Rotor Dynamics, aeromechanics, and other related parameters associated with gas turbine development tests.
  • Responsible for execution of laboratory and field validation testing, inspection and data acquisition for use in the design and validation of products and services. This includes documenting test hardware and parameters per established quality procedures.
  • Responsible for design and construction of test facilities, test rigs, instrumentation systems, and the development of test software.
  • Continued broadening of technical knowledge and skills to execute policy/strategy. To include support roles with a specialized technical field.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; using this understanding to accomplish validation goals. Good understanding of how our work integrates with other teams and contributes to overall product validation.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. Ability to explain technical information to team and customers. There may be opportunities to interact with the customer so developing strong customer relationships and serving as the interface between customer and GE Vernova.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college OR a High School Diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience with Turbo Machinery Validation Testing
  • Previous experience with Gas Turbine NPI Instrumentation (New Product Introduction); setup and operation of Dynamic Data Acquisition Systems at Customer sites.

Eligibility Requirements

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
  • Must be able to work 100% onsite in Greenville, SC
  • Relocation assistance only considered from within the USA.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%

Desired Characteristics

  • Established project management skills
  • Project leadership skills specifically around Hardware schedules and ability to work in team environment
  • Product knowledge of GE gas turbine, generators, Steam Turbines, and Aeroderivative units

The base pay range for this position is $98,400.00 - $164,000.00 USD per year.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.

This position will stay open on the career website until at least 4/16/25.
