What impact you'll make
Within the Gas Power segment of our Power Businesses, this position is a member of the Generator & Electrical Systems Engineering team. You will be an active contributor to the specification of key electrical equipment part of the power plants that energize the world. This Schenectady, NY (onsite) based position includes Generator Power Plant Equipment and/or Generator Electrical protection panel. The team is global.

What you'll do
The Electrical Equipment Engineer shall be responsible of Generator power equipment AND/OR Responsible of Generator Protection Relay, as described below:
- Responsible of the equipment allocated on projects:
- Prepare the functional specifications, based on site requirements, the contract, the local codes, international standard, and internal design practice.
- Support on supplier design evaluation and review technical offers.
- Review and validation of technical documentations on project.
- Support the site teams during the installation and commissioning of the equipment.
- Responsible Generator Protection Relay Panel.
- Customized the Generator protection functions.
- Prepare the functional specifications, based on site requirements, the contract, the local codes, international standard, and internal design practice.
- The protection system usually covers the auxiliary transformer.
- The system can cover the main transformer.
- Review and validation of technical documentations on project.
- Review protection setting based on Vendor Calculation Note.
What you'll bring (Basic Qualifications)
- 5 years' experience minimum, in the field of Medium or High Voltage systems of power plant installations
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 5 years' experience or master's degree in electrical engineering.
What will make you stand out
- Fluent with MS Office applications
- Ideally, good understanding on short circuit current in power plant, current rating, protection studies, insulation level.
- Experience with a certification for professional engineer in the state (UL, CSA, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA, IEEE...)
- Familiarity with OSHA requirements
- Power plant equipment expertise including: Generator Power Evacuation Equipment, Transformer, Switchgear, Generator Circuit Breaker, Generator Protection Panel & setting
- You have a passion for technical challenge and project execution.
- You are ready to work with digital relay.
For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $85,600.00 - 142,600.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, geographic location, and skill set.
This position is also eligible for a 10% annual performance bonus. This position will stay open on the career website until at least 10/30/2024.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%,120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
