Job Description Summary

Venturing represents a way to leverage the startup community to simultaneously help startups grow and scale while bringing that critical innovation to our customers. Venturing is new to GE Vernova and this position represents an exciting opportunity to shape the future of venturing at the company.

The Director, Ventures will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, executing venturing deals of all kinds. These may include minority investments and may also include commercial or technical partnerships between the startups and the company. S/he will also be responsible for management of the venturing portfolio for GE Vernova as a whole.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Source, structure and lead venture partnership execution
  • Track and manage startup equity portfolio across GE Vernova
  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with venture partners to obtain up-to-date market intelligence
  • Build GE Vernova process for partnering with external startups and align across businesses
  • Bachelor's Degree. A minimum 12 years of professional experience.
  • ~10 years of deal-making experience
  • Venturing experience
  • Expertise negotiating and closing deals with startups and other VCs
  • Proven ability to identify technology and team growth potential

Desired Characteristics:

  • MBA Preferred
  • Board experience
  • Experience working both in a large, matrixed organization
  • Experience in working in the energy sector
  • Entrepreneurial nature with a passion for bringing technology to market
  • Expertise advising startups and managing a startup portfolio
  • Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills, ability to operate and communicate at senior business levels
  • Strong external energy VC network
  • Experience in organizational transformation and the willingness and ability to drive cultural change that brings lasting, meaningful value to GE Vernova
  • Strong team player with ability to build relationships quickly
  • Strong project management skills
