Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop custom protection and control solutions, including specifications, layouts, schematics, logic diagrams, wiring, grounding, and other required custom control hardware, for custom FACTS solutions
  • Compose protection and control equipment specifications, issue material purchase request forms, and evaluate vendor quotations for FACTS equipment including protection and control systems
  • Be the contact liaison for technical issues for the customer and project manager
  • Develop and execute start-up, testing and commissioning plans
  • Coordinate with sourcing and project team members on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control and schedule objectives
  • Interface with internal and external team members such as principal engineers, control designers, electrical designers, project managers, engineering leaders and support organizations
  • Development of the controls scope for proposals, including writing and/or reviewing technical specifications, estimating design man-hours and materials, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, directing designers and draftsmen on drawing requirements, and the development of clarifications and exceptions as well as technical responses
  • Participate in cost reduction programs that vary in scope and may include low cost vendor selection, design improvements, process improvements, automation, and new product introduction
  • Participate in RCA's (root cause analysis) and execute corrective actions
  • Support project quality procedures and initiatives including aspects of ISO9001 business management system

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 2 years of FACTS experience

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% as required, which may include remote locations and international travel, and be willing to comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in automation controller programming, to include PLCs, MkVIe, digital relays, and embedded real-time controllers such as MATLAB & RTDS
  • Experience in microprocessor control hardware, firmware, architecture
  • Knowledge of and experience using IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards and codes, and ability to engineer design packages when no clear customer specification is provided
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to lead a team and be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high quality product on time and under budget
  • Ability to develop and implement standards and structured programs
  • Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word, AutoCAD, and Microstation

The salary range for this position is 79,400.00 - 99,200.00 - 119,000.00 USD Annual . The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
