Job Description Summary

The commissioning specialist is responsible to perform field service activities, including all types of maintenance services (preventive and remedial), manage maintenance facilities and field services engineering. The role is based in Abu Dhabi.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the test & commissioning (T&S) of CCS & BBP projects, M&D Projects, any other GA related projects.
  • Responsible for the resource planning of the FS commissioning team for running projects.
  • Manage the workload of the projects to ensure 90% and above billable ratio.
  • Liaise with other members of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Support to Operations team to Control projects effectively in terms of budgeted profitability, planning, and general reporting (internal / external).
  • Ensure that agreements with customer for documentation lead times, delivery, reliability, and quality are achieved within the budgetary constraints agreed within the Unit.
  • Follow workplace EHS issues and ensure availability of suitable PPE for T&C personnel, both internal and subcontracted.
  • Manage and secure approval as well as renewal of approvals of T&C engineers from key accounts.
  • Relay Setting Calculations: Ability to perform relay coordination studies and setting calculations.
  • Ensure commitments to customer are met in accordance with contract with clear feedback through consistent customer interaction, e.g. communication, (phone, e-mail, etc.) and customer meetings, periodic reviews etc.
  • Implementation of Service Max during the project execution.
  • Have experience and able to handle engineering and field service works for [Protection Relays, Panels modification, protection logic diagram, GA/LA, Bill of Materials, Purchasing requests, Protection/SCMS/LCC Schematics, SCMS/Cyber Security Architectures, SCMS Signal list, Cable Schedule, Control Desk Drawing, IEC61850 signal mapping, etc..].
  • Support for all Production documents (Wiring Table/Label list/Cable Schedule/Interpanel wiring files), CT/VT Adequacy check, Relay setting calculations.
  • Have experience for busbar protection engineering and site works.
  • Experienced in all protection relays software, test kits, and Microsoft office.
  • Revise drawings against comments and replying to customer / Consultant comments.
  • Provide technical clarification to Suppliers/Customers.
  • Coordinating with panel manufacturer.
  • Representing GE before customer & consultants in technical discussions and workshop.
  • Providing input and securing design documents of required quality on time from design out-sourcing partners.
  • Assisting and guiding a small team of draftsmen in their daily design
  • activities to bring out collaborative performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or related discipline
  • Knowledge of differential, distance, overcurrent, and earth fault protection schemes.
  • 3+ plus years relevant Field Service experience preferably protection and M&D experience
  • PMP certification is an advantage but not compulsory.
  • Knowledge of schemes and application of protection relays in electrical networks including HV & EHV systems, and state-of-the-art technologies in substation automation
  • Good oral / written communication
  • Ability to read / interpret tender / contract documentation, schematics, procedures, and policy guidelines.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to define problems, collect relevant data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and to meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience of managing projects for protection and control systems is a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of fault analysis techniques (fault current calculations, system stability).
    Understanding of testing tools like Omicron or Doble or ISA, etc... for relay testing and validation.

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of GA products and systems, especially Automation(Protection and M&D products is a must).
  • Good oral / written communication skills in Technical English, Arabic is an advantage, but not compulsory.
  • Time management skills.
  • Have ability to travel and work on shore and offshore also.
  • Work, managing, support the work with teams (Engineering, filed services, PM, application, tendering, and Sales).
