The Application Engineering Manager (AE) is responsible for the overall technical coordination and management during the tendering phase of FACTS Projects .
The role is responsible for ensuring the technical tender design meets deadlines and quality standards. The Application Engineering Manager will coordinate and manage the global schedule of tender engineering activities, ensure the implementation of Engineering Processes, and oversee technical coordination across the various work packages of large or complex projects. Additionally, the Application Engineering Manager ensures that optimal technical solutions are selected (safe, reliable, cost-effective, easy to install, and operate) in line with customer expectations, while delivering the necessary documentation according to the tender general time schedule

The role also includes estimating the project engineering budget and developing the project execution Engineering design strategy in collaboration with the Regional Technical Tendering Leader, the Regional Engineering Leader, and with support from Project Engineering Managers from the execution phase (Order to Remittance - OTR), Functional Engineering Leaders (such as Control, Platform, Layout/Design leaders), and experienced Project Engineers who have led similar projects during the execution stage to leverage their return on experience.
This shall be achieved through the efficient management of the resources allocated to the project and by the application of the processes coming from the relevant GSI Engineering functions, whilst always working in close collaboration with the Region & FACTS PDG (Product Delivery Group) functional leaders towards the common objective of successful project delivery.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be an integral- and integrating part of our GSI APAC Region Engineering team. You will be responsible of leading and overseeing engineering activities of the APAC FACTS projects from ITO stage s to until to handover to project execution organization. You'll have the overall responsibility of the engineering coordination activities of the named project(s) in close cooperation with the Bid Manager, engineering team, and sub-contractors. The AE role includes also coordination and co-operation of the other multicultural GE Vernova units participating to the project over the globe.

Your duties would comprise of:

  • Management of overall design activities in ITO phase, defining the design quality plan, supervising and coordinating all engineering tasks required to execute the project, whether in house or by suppliers/subcontractors, and ensure technical coordination of the project in ITO phase
  • Management of project engineering deliverables in accordance to the given budget and delivery time of the offer.
  • Integrating internal- and external stakeholders, incl. customers, towards the common goal
  • Scope management and securing that the various interfaces are seamless, no gaps or duplicates
  • Guiding customers to right direction and securing GE Vernova Competitive Advantage
  • Internal and external communication and reporting
  • Participation to continuous development of project engineering management procedures, methods and tools

Desired Profile and Experience

Engineering degree level or equivalent education in Electrical Engineering

Minimum 15 Years experience, of which at least 5 Tenders in a position of Application Engineering Manager for FACTS, across several project contexts (technology, scope, contract environment) in EPC type environment in T&D industry.

Mastering of involved discipline (process, tools, technical aspects) and successful experience in management of multi-disciplinary teams with multiple interfaces and with products coming from several countries

Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium period and to travel worldwide.

Fluent in English and Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages.

Demonstrates ownership & accountability, judgment and decision making, influences & inspires team, relationship building skills and strong technical problem-solving skills and experience, creates a vision and strategy, and has passion for the role.

Demonstrate leadership behaviors of acting with humility, lead with transparency and deliver with focus.
