Job Description Summary
The Aeroelastics team within GE Vernova Wind is responsible for the design and development of products, solutions, and systems, including activities linked to technical improvement of existing products by ensuring design robustness for system stability and dynamics. The Lead Engineer in this role will emphasize aeroelastic turbine behavior, including nonoperational conditions at the Wind Turbine System level. The engineer in this role reports directly to the Aeroelastics Leader for Wind Engineering
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the strategy for aeroelastics to enable robust design of wind turbines
- Lead the organization to develop aeroelastic simulations and field evaluation methods in support of product design and fleet support
- Lead strategy for fleet monitoring and mitigation, particularly with respect to nonoperational wind turbine conditions
- Execute simulations including FSI, FEA, CFD, MBS to understand and solve engineering challenges
- Participate in validation & verification efforts to advance simulation methodologies and/or to demonstrate new technologies. Interface with validation team to ensure high quality data acquisition.
- Develop and execute product design, validation, technology and tools, and resolve fleet and manufacturing issues in support of all engineering segments and subsystems
- Executing and advancing wind turbine system simulation models, methods, and tools for the purposes of system design and analysis of aerodynamics, stability, system dynamics, and vibrations
- Provide technical expertise in multi-body simulation analysis or other high-fidelity tools used in aerodynamics, stability, system dynamics, and vibrations
- Ensure timely resolution of quality and performance issues
- Work cross-functionally with teams across the business to solve problems, design new products and new technologies in support of business targets
- Collaborate with other System Simulation teams in active council, sharing lessons learned, processes, and procedures
- Assist with establishing timelines, deliverables, and roadmaps within our team
- Drive first-pass yield and cycle-time improvements for the application of this technical discipline to the product development process
- Lead and mentor engineers within the team
- Engage with external partners including universities, governmental agencies, and researchers to further the state the art

Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of time
Desired Characteristics
- Demonstrated expertise in aeroelastics, especially with large, slender, rotating systems (e.g., rotor craft, wind turbines).
- Deep technical expertise in CFD and/or FEA or other relevant aeroelastic analysis tools
- Working knowledge with geometry creation and modification
- Programming experience (Python, C, C++, etc)
- Advanced degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 2 years experience in wind turbine systems engineering, wind turbine system simulation and modeling, or in system stability and dynamics
- Experience with system-level stability or dynamics analysis
- Experience with multi-body simulation codes (ADAMS, Simpack, etc.)
- Experience with the development and validation of system simulation models
- Experience with wind turbine loads analysis and wind turbine systems design
- Knowledge of wind turbine operation, control technologies, operability, or validation
- Strong wind turbine expertise in Systems Engineering or System Simulation disciplines
- Strong technical experience in new product design, technology development, root cause analysis, method/tool development, etc.
- Demonstrated systems thinker: ability to assess tradeoffs, effectively assess risk, and optimize results
- Proven ability to drive process improvement, implement standard work, and utilize Lean operating principles
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Programming experience (Python, C, C++, etc)
